Remarks :
There is an All-Indian entrance examination for all the courses offered in FDDI. Although, our batch (2020) got in by their 12th results since entrance exams couldn't be held due to covid. Application forms are available on the official website and the entrance exam is usually held around the first quarter of every year. Reservations are as per government guidelines. You can apply after class 12th from any stream.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I have always wanted to become a fashion designer. The reason I chose this college was the infrastructure and lower fees when compared to other design colleges. Also, this is an institute of national importance. The faculty are highly educated. Mostly passed from NIFT. They are all very knowledgeable in our field. Most of them also have industry experience. The teaching method is quite admirable. Although after 2nd year you're mostly on your own. There are two exams every semester. That is mid sem and final sem. The difficulty level is average. Although there will be numerous assignments given on daily basis.
Internships Opportunities :
Internships are available after the third year. Alumni and faculty are very supportive and provide us with helpful contacts. I haven't had time for any internship yet so I don't have much knowledge in this field. But our faculty did ask for our CVs and regularly update us with any internship opportunity they find. But Internships are mostly unpaid.
Placement Experience :
Campus placements are available for final-year students. Average packages are usually 3lac per annum. The highest may go up to 6-7 lacs. For footwear and leather students opportunities are better than for fashion design students. Bata, khadim and many reputed companies hire from our college. Designers like Sabyasachi also hire our students.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fees structure is quite reasonable for a design college. Sem fees are usually within 80k and financial assistance/ loans/ scholarships are available for students who apply. All government-provided financial aid is accepted in our college.
Campus Life :
Sports weeks are organised once a year. There is no annual fest. But every year there is a fashion show organised for final year students. Classrooms are air-conditioned. The library is well-equipped and the labs are very well-maintained.
