Remarks :
The admission process was quite smooth, I needed to clear the common entrance test for admission and then as per the merit list, got the opportunity of admission to Xavier. In the month of May-June, every academic year, one can fill up the application form for the entrance exam and the form will be available on their official website which is Sent Xavier's College, Kolkata (Need to search this on google and then visit the website), a min amount will be required to pay for the application for(For our batch the amount was Rs. 1000 for Mcom application) and accordingly the dates and timing will be given in the website. And after the examination, within 1 to 2 weeks, the Merit lists will get published and there the benefit of different Reserved categories will be given(SC, ST OBC, CATHELIC etc) though I am general. And after that, a small time period will be given for the admission process which is completely online (we were given a period of 2 days). So overall this is the process.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I have completed my graduation from Calcutta University and my stream was B. Com(H) in Accounting and Finance. So after completion I thought I need to learn more about this field, this line because from the very beginning I had lots of interest in Commerce specifically in Finance, later on, I came to know about the Masters of commerce program of Xaviers and after some research, I came to know about the placement cell and internship opportunities and the process of quality education that is provided from the college itself. So I decided to go for this and also parents and my best friend supported me very much, so for all these reasons, I opted for mcom In my class, there are 20 professors for approx 80 students so the student-teacher ratio is 4:1, which is quite good. The teaching pattern of the faculty members is very good and often real-life examples is been used. very practical and knowledge-based classes are held. After every 4 to 5 months, an exam is held and the standard is hard.
Internships Opportunities :
Different companies Deloitte, PWC, EY, and GOOGLE gives us the opportunity of paid internship for the roles like Network building, job shadowing, assistance and contribution to the team, HR management, financial analysis etc. Through a team handling model or network building channel, Or job shadow the students would be getting the opportunity of gaining experience over time, in public speaking because they are involved in different presentations, exploring career alternatives, their interest zone, the capacity of completing tasks, organizational goals accomplishment, building positive attitudes and habits, learning how to appreciate good work and also deal with negative situations and how to mitigate the organizational problems. So basically these are the different projects and outcomes to clarify the tasks given by the companies.
Placement Experience :
From 3 rd semester, the students will be eligible for the placements if they are applying. The placement cells of our college are very active as I stated before. Every year Various reputed companies like Deloitte, PWC, EY, AMAZON, GOOGLE, ICICI BANK, FEDERAL BANK, HINDUSTAN UNILEVER and a lot more visit our college for placement and paid internships. The range of packages is from 4 lakh to 24 lakh in the last year and almost 80% per cent of applicants from bcom and 90% of applicants from mcom got placed in the previous academic year. So the placement of our college is very good. The companies offer the students for different job profiles like HR, MARKETING, SOFTWARE, FINANCE etc. So if any student is thinking about the placement criteria, then don't think and just get admitted. After getting the degree I'm to pursuing PHD in finance from our college itself because Xavier's is providing us with the opportunity of research study and analysis also
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees structure of our college is a little bit high but still, it is acceptable as they are providing various opportunities for the students (For me the cost of Mcom was Rs. 200000 approx), and also if any student is facing any difficulty or financial issue then that student can go the office and can apply for different scholarships and through the help of that he /she can continue the course. The placement cell of our college is very active, in every year many reputed companies like Google, Amazon, Deloitte, PWC, EY, ICIVI BANK, FEDERAL BANK and a lot more comes with the offer jobs and paid internships for the students In the last year, the range of package was min Rs. 400000 and max Rs. 2400000. Almost 80 percent of the students who applied from bcom and almost 90% of applicants from masters got placed. So overall for fees, scholarships, Placements, and internships, St Xavier's college Kolkata is one of the finest in India.
Campus Life :
Xaviers is also famous for it's events because apart from studies the event section of our college is also veruch happening. Some of the special attractions are XAVOTSAV and MILANTI. Students from different colleges and different states come to our college just to attend the events. Every year this event is conducted. Lots of modern equipment are there in each of the classrooms, the buildings, corridors everything is very nicely maintained. You will see CCTV in each n every corner of our college. And Projector, digital library, and digital classroom are already there. Various extra-cost curriculum activities are also there with different social groups, associations and societies which are run by the students, and office members.
Other Applied Colleges
Delhi University - [DU] | Master of Commerce [M.Com]
I didn't join that college because I am from kolkata and the distance of xaviers from my place is not very much and also St. Xaviers college kolkata is one of the most reputed colleges in kolkata, for these reasons I didn't opt for DU
