Remarks :

For a Master's program, any candidate is eligible in that particular subject in which they have done honours, provided they have a minimum of 55 per cent in their Bachelor's course. For the reserved category minimum of 45-50 per cent is required. The application form is mainly filled out online and can be found on the official university website of the presidency university, where the date, fees and other information are provided in detail. The application fees cost around 500-1000. The students have to appear for entrance exams like PUBDET and PUMDET which is the entrance exam for Bachelor's and Master's programme at presidency university.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Terms exams were conducted timely within the gap of 5-6 months. The question papers were framed standardly to scrutinize the critical thinking ability and the development of ideas of the students. Students who read, followed the class lectures thoroughly, read tutorials and reference books and materials suggested by the professors and did research work was able to score excellent grades. Besides presidency follows both teacher-centric modes as well as student-centric modes of teaching to enhance skill development, personality development, intellectual development and all-around development. The exams were not easy to pass, if you have studied something you would pass and get a fair score. However, the syllabus is designed in such a way that while studying and doing assignments, the majority of the research work is done and the base is clear and the syllabus is covered by the students so that the burden is lesser when exams are near.

Internships Opportunities :

Internships like student exchange programmes happen along with that paper presentations, seminars, and symposiums take place, where students have to take part. The internship was not compulsory for all but students are often engaged in internships, training and part-time jobs for their skill development mainly in the field of research interns, editorial internships, content creators and writers. Some of the students work with environment-related internships where they get 6000 INR/ PM as an internship stipend, content creators and writers get a stipend of 10000 INR, and PM research interns get a stipend of 15000 INR per month. The rate of stipend varies from internship to internship as they are of different types. Some students intern at NGOs like U and I which offer teaching facilities to underprivileged children and some are non-paid internships which focus on the skill development of the students.

Placement Experience :

Companies start recruiting students when they are in their third semester. However, every company demand the students to complete the degree and then join the job. Companies that visited the English department are Waterpump company modelled at Alipore, hiring for marketing, editorial work offering pay of 3LPA, Cognizant hiring for technical writer offering pay of 4 LPA, Adrosonic hiring for content writing offering pay of 4.5 LPA. Azim Premji foundation hiring for Associate, offering a payment of 5 LPA. The majority of the students go for government jobs like UPSC, WBCS, PSC, SSC CLG, higher education or to pursue a PhD from top-notch universities abroad and in India. 60 per cent of students sit for placements and bag all the opportunities. I belong to the majority of the students who aspire to stay in the field of academia. The curriculum of the university developed a passion for learning, imbibing and further research for scholars to come up with research, my plan is to be an educator.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees for Arts are 7500 and for science 8500 for two years excluding hostel fees. A student who belongs to an economically weaker section avail of the scholarship on getting a first-class in the semester exams. Female students have the kanyashree scholarship option. Ews students get to benefit from university. Different diversity is observed when it comes to placements like in English literature department jobs for content writing, editors, teaching jobs, corporate editorials, soft skill trainers, technical writers, etc are hired. Companies like Cognizant, Adrosonic, Azim Premji foundation, TRD etc come to the campus to hire students. The pay varies from 4-6 LPA in all of the aforementioned companies.

Campus Life :

Socials groups like the Arts society and music society are run by students. The main function of art society is to focus on the aspects of art like painting, poetry, dance, drama etc. The music society focuses on the fest, events and festivals that happen on the university premises. The Arts Society is also instrumental in the functioning of the college magazines. The students have a Facebook community/group where the problems are raised. For raising other problems and seeking help, anyone can contact the Union office or mail them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

my reason to choose this course is I was very interested to know about the world economy and I still am. It is quite tough to do masters on it but I am surviving. As teachers tries so hard to explain us as easy as possible. They made our concept clear. They repeatedly asked us even if we understood or understood. If we talk about exams obviously it will be hard. It is not easy as we think.

Placement Experience:

For other skill-based courses placements start after the second semester. For theory-based courses like ours, we can start the placement process from sem4 if we are able to manage the dissertation process and the internship simultaneously.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I wanted to study film making and advertising which prompted me to choose Mass Communication. There's less effect of the curriculum in real world application. Teachers need to look beyond favouritism and teach according to modern day technique. Frequency of exam was like 5-6month sometime it took 7 month sometime 5 month. Difficulty level was high.
