Remarks :
People with an M.A English degree with at least 55% marks are eligible to apply for Ph.D. English. The admission forms open twice a year- January and June. The forms price is Rs.1100/-The admission process was hassle-free and smooth. The first round was an online test. The 2nd round was an interview that a panel of 5 faculty members conducted.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Ph.D. English helps you become eligible for academic teaching. It is the highest qualification in India. The faculty of the English department is very fine and knowledgeable. They also address individual issues very efficiently. Each Ph.D. scholar gets an individual guide whom they can approach whenever required. The exams are conducted only at the end of the coursework of 1st semester. The exams are conducted efficiently and students are made to prepare for them well in advance.
Placement Experience :
Ph.D. scholars in their 3rd semesters are allowed to teach on the campus. They are paid from rs.350-1250 per class depending on their department. After the completion, of course, they also can offer you a permanent teaching job at their campus. The salary would be between 50k to 1lakh per month. I would want to teach on the campus after the completion of my degree.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee of the course is rs.50000 per semester. 10000rs are registration fees taken at the beginning of the course which are nonrefundable. 10000rs is a security deposit that is returned by the end of the course. The campus placement is also great. Scholars are also allowed to teach during their Ph.D. itself at Amity University. They are paid per class.
Campus Life :
The campus infrastructure is pretty good for the fees they charge. The library though doesn't have many updated books. But the college fest and other events are high shot. Each department has its skill-based societies which students can join as per their talent. Competitions with cash prizes are also continuously held.
Interview Experience :
There was a test that was conducted online. The test level was from easy to moderate. Any student who has attentively studied a master's course can crack it easily. The second round is an interview where scholars need to provide a research proposal and defend it to the panel. That is the final round after which you are selected. Not much specific preparation is required for these rounds. Just the right awareness and mindset will do.
