Remarks :
Mathematics and English both. Furthermore than 90 marks in any of the two remaining subjects apart from 6th subject. Marks of Mathematics is compulsory for every graduate course except in B.A. (Hons). So in short one needs to score around 93% at least to get through the first cutoff list. And the last cutoff stands at 91%. Generally, 3 cutoff lists are released but in some of the courses, only 2 cutoff lists are also released. 500-800 seats are available in each course. Undergraduate classes take place both in the morning as well as evening shifts. Various quotas are there like sports, drama, literature etc. The complete admission process is completed through the website only. The fees for morning and evening classes are different.
Course Curriculum Overview :
All the faculty members are just top notch. Many doctorates also take classes in undergraduate courses. Each class has a mentor/counsellor for the students to guide them academically and support them emotionally. There is no scope for rot learning, every concept is explained through its practical application via the use of technology like excel sheets, presentations, etc. In the first year, a subject for holistic development is also taught for students all round development. Term exams are conducted right on time. There are no delays in the commencement of the examination. Semester wise calendars are issued to keep the track of the courses right on time. Exams are not difficult to pass at all if have paid attention in the regular classes and have done the self study in due time. 40% is the passing criteria in all the subjects. Further separate marks are given for assignments, attendance and mid-terms which are eventually aggregated in the final semester examination.
Placement Experience :
After completion of the whole course, off-campus placements start taking place. Companies like Deloitte, PWC, etc. Offer campus placement. Nearly around 70% of the students get placement with an average package of Rs 3-4 lac. a year. The highest package goes up to 6-7 lac. a year. Students usually get placements for the post of accountants, managers, bank officers etc. I am currently pursuing CA, so after getting the degree my plan is to continue the same.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
An annual hike of around 5%-10% in fees is expected but all of that is covered by unlimited access to world-class libraries and other research facilities which are offered free of cost all around the year. In 3rd year of undergraduate courses, students are offered internships in big 4s like Deloitte, PWC etc. The stipends of these internships not only boosts ones confidence and knowledge but also provide financially that it can cover the annual fees of the last year. The cost to study is quite great as compared to the facilities provided.
Campus Life :
Xavotsav is one of the biggest college fests of the country organised by our St. Xaviers College, which takes place once a year in the month of January. A huge no of participants takes part in various nonacademic activities like dancing, singing, sports, drama, poetry, etc. Distinguished celebrities like Biswa Kalyan Rath, Neha Kakkar have also performed at the fests. Other than this there are various societies in college for students for developing their skillsets, like Xavier's Commerce Society (XCS), Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), Xaviers Finance Society (XFC), etc. Separate sports clubs are there for badminton, football, cricket, chess, hockey, lawn tennis etc. These societies also work for the welfare of the environment adopting eco-friendly measures in their operations.
