Remarks :
Any student from India & foreign can apply in SRM University without any entrance exam. Any Student who have passed class 12 from any recognised boards are eligible for applying in SRM University. The best part of SRM is that SRM don't judge students and give chances to students with compartment in 12 boards & may have cleared the exam later. The another facility that SRM provide is scholarship to the students who have topped school. 1st topper gets 100% schorship, 2nd gets 50%, & 3rd gets 25%. Though the fees of undergraduate is kinda affordable it ranges between 30,000 - 70,000 per annum. The cost of application form is Rs-600 along with prospectus. Application form is available in Main block of SRM University i.e on 5th mile Tadong, opposite to IGNOU/ near Manipal (SMIMS) hospital. You can register yourself in the institute from admission cell (Main block). Hostel is provided for both boys & girls. Total 3 blocks are there.Total 3 buses are available. Free wifi access.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Ngl some of the faculty in my department was above excellent. They have their graduation degree from renowned institutes like IIT and they have pursued their MSc and Ph.D. from renowned foreign universities. However, not all profs are excellent. Some students don't understand their way of teaching but the plus point is that the university has always a session in which you can review on teachers. You can utilize this opportunity. If your teacher isn't good enough for you all you can surely replace them or you can request them to change their way of teaching without hesitation. They'll never know your name so rate them without hesitation. There are a total of 6 exams per year. 2-semester exam, 2 module exam & 2 cycle test. Module exams & semester exams are alike. The only difference is that the module is converted into 20 marks. They provide a laboratory for different departments. Our chemistry lab is highly maintained along with a lab assistant to help and guide students.
Internships Opportunities :
As we are having projects on our VI sem, 3rd year. Whole class students are divided into 5 groups and different groups are under the supervision of a different professor. You can even choose your professor under whom you wanna work. They guide you to perform different experiments and research. Currently, my group is writing a review paper on Alpha-glucosidase and diabetes. Other students are experimenting with the atomic spectrum. Some of the students are doing both experiments & research. Depends on how much you give preference on your project. Projects are very important they can earn you money & fame at this young age if done exceptionally well.
Placement Experience :
From 6 semesters students are eligible for applying on-campus placements. There are ample companies like Sun pharma, Biju's, Mercedes-Benz, Hilton, ICICI Bank, Indigo, and many more. In 2018, 90% placement was provided. However, I have decided to continue studying after my graduation. If you all are willing to work you can sit for placement opportunities.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
As I have mentioned before the fees of SRM University Sikkim vary from department to department. The average tuition fee is from 30,000-40,000 with including exam fees. The exam fees per semester vary from Rs700-1500 per semester. Exam fees depend on the number of subjects you have, the more the subject will be the fees. Besides exam fees & tuition fees, you have to have to submit a 5000 rupee which is refundable. For admission, you need to pay 2000 just one time in the 3-year course. It provides scholarships to students who topped school. Any students who have topped school get 100% fee concessions only in tuition fees. 2nd topper gets 50% &3rd topper gets a 25% scholarship. Students who all are orphans and are willing to study can contact admission cell they may get free education too. Students who all are from Sikkim can come through the hard quota with 25% of fee concessions.
Campus Life :
There are numerous clubs for students with a variety of interests. We have an annual fest called Meraki. Students can show their talents in more than one field. The fest includes a variety of curriculum from sports, culture, literature, art, etc. Every Student gonna get a chance to shine however they need to give their names in time. They have an exceptional curriculum like hiking & rock climbing. They got a chance to go for an excursion free of cost. So many clubs are there they provide numerous chances to students to showcase their talents.
