Summary of JIST

Remarks :

If you are qualified in JEE/CEE you can get admission for engineering courses. And to get into Bsc. /IT courses you have to apply through their website as well as you can do it offline. Well, there are also reservations for Caste/Sports/Cultural etc. The admission process is smooth.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Electronics and Instrumentation is a good branch since there is a lot of scope for future implementation. You can go to fields if you are from an electronics background. Every 5 students get a mentor, who looks after their grades and gives advice. The faculty is very good when it comes to teaching. And there are quite qualified in their fields. For every semester we have 3 class tests and a final semester exam. The exams are difficult as expected but it is scoring too.

Internships Opportunities :

Well, I have done some internships and a stipend is provided after completion. The stipend depends on how long have you been in the internship program. It a necessary to complete some internships since it is mandatory for the course completion.

Placement Experience :

After getting into the 3rd year it is possible for students to sit in the campus placements. There are many companies such as Wipro, Tata, Ongc, Neist etc which have selected students from college campuses. 15-20 students get placed from college campuses each year sometimes more depending on the batch. I will pursue M.Tech after my B.Tech completion, so I am not into the placements provided.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Since it is a government college the fees here is quite affordable. And there are also a lot of scholarship schemes for students. Financial assistance is given to students (from poor economic backgrounds). Decent campus placements are available.

Campus Life :

The annual fest is known as Abeyaantrix, it is quite big. And it happens in the month of Jan-Feb. National/international music artists are invited. Students do have a lot of fun on those days. The library is not so big but it has all the books required in the courses provided as well as some others. The Sports fest runs for about a week or so. It's the best way to show who got the best department in a way. So students try their best to showcase their sports skills (football, cricket, badminton, chess etc.). There are many social groups as well as clubs run by students(my favourite is the literature club). There are also some fun pages on insta/twitter run by students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've been enthusiastic about exploring more about software and programming which influenced me to choose the course of Computer Science Engineering. With further development of artificial intelligence, it opens up better learning and job opportunities for students. In my university, computer science is taught by experienced teachers and faculty but it would be better if they were more inclusive of certain topics which are extremely important for the students and raising the level of teaching including practical learning and understanding and also examining the student's capability is one of the aspects to be included.

Placement Experience:

To be honest, placements were dissapointing however it is getting better day by day. The major hindrance is the location factor but TnP cell works very hard to bring companies and to provide students with equal opportunities.
