Entrance Preview
I took the MAT Examination and secured 74%. I had heard that the Faculty, Infrastructure and allied services like computer lab and library are very good at the Institute, hence I opted for the college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course syllabus provided me with holistic and comprehensive knowledge. I had taken HR and Marketing specialization in Second Year. The specializations delved deeply into the subject and brought out the finer points of the course. Latest contemporary research are absorbed in the course curriculum and the institute provides a number of add ons, which provide a holistic and interesting knowledge experience for the student. We were told to read books and periodicals related to our specialization which provided us with indepth knowledge. The course curriculum is basically developed by the university, however they solicit comments and suggestions from the faculty. Courses like Digital Marketing and Data Analytics which are the hot management topics of today are taught as add on courses.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, the Institute provides internship. I did my internship from a summer placement provided by the Institute and the stipend was Rs. 5000. I learnt a lot in two months and it was a value addition.
Placement Experience
The companies that come to campus include profiles ranging from insurance companies to companies requiring high end skill sets. It depends on the student and his skills, what kind of job he gets placed in. It must be said the students have a wide range of companies and profiles to choose from. Many students also land up with more than 2-3 jobs and then choose their options. These are the main point of my institute:- • There are nearly 90-100% placement record of the institute • Reputed organizations like Genpact, Infosys, Barclay Bank and HDFC come to campus • Companies offer very attractive packages in the range of 5-7 lakhs p.a
College Events
The events are varied and consider all the inputs required for a student-manager to be successful in the business arena. Apart from management skill sets a lot of stress is put on extracurricular and sports activities in order to prioritize the development of a wholesome personality. Following are the highlights of my institute:- • Various events like - Octavia (a inter college cultural extravaganza), Marketing Fair, Management Games Workshop, Sports Day, Debate and Extempore Competition • Every week the industry awareness program is also held in the institute • Here the students take up a sector, delve into the nittie grittes, analyse it and come up with suggestions
Fee Structure And Facilities
Value for Money. The total fees is a little over Rupees two lakhs broken down into four semesters. The fee structure is decided by the university and the institute is allowed to add on expenditures like hostel, conveyance and miscellaneous expenditure. However given the staggering fees for an MBA program, the fees over here work out quite economical. The additional over and above the basic fees is minimal.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, there are various scholarships at the Institute for meritorious students. The BBA students undergo a written examination for the former and the MBA Scholarship is bases on the percentage of marks secured in the graduation examination. • These scholarships are for the BBA and MBA students • There is the 'Bhavishya Jyoti' Scholarship and the 'Kusum Lata Special Scholarship' • The scholarships range from Rs. 20,000 to Rs 75,000
Campus Life
Campus life is invigorating. The gender ratio is 60:40 and the allied activities are very good. Most of the time the campus life is abuzz with activities with either students playing cricket or one hears the strumming of a guitar. Students come from all states of India include West Bengal, Orissa and Sikkim. There are also international students from Nepal and Bhutan. Though heterogeneous in composition the students function as a homogeneous lot and there is a lot of cross cultural exchange among various students.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are very good and of course the mess food is ok, with a lot of choice thrown in. Many of the students in hostels, which are available separately for boys and girls in aesthetic and ergonomically designed, spacious seats for boys and girls. The hostel mess provides breakfast, lunch and dinner, with two days a week reserved for special meals. A few students stay in and around the institute and a number of PG rooms are available who also provide lodging, boarding and conveyance facilities. The hostel also has a dedicated bus which is used for the convenience of the hostel inmates.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is very resourceful. An alumni day is held every year, wherein alumni gather at the institute and meet their fellow students and faculty followed by a cultural program and lunch. The senior students were very helpful and also helped in summer internship and final placements. They also advised us on the do's and don'ts at the institute. Now, we are looking forward to the Alumni Day in February where we will get a chance to meet the alumni and learn the ways of the corporate world.
Exam Structure
The exams are very properly structured in the academic session. There is enough time to attend classes, prepare for exams, give exams and chill out. The end semester examinations are as is nomenclature held at the end of each semester. The First sessional examinations are basically internal examinations held within 1 1/2 month of commencement of academic session the second sessional examination is held in the form of the pre university examination which prepares the student for the end semester examination.
Faculty
The Faculty at the institute are qualified, experienced and have a good teaching styles. Rather than act as teachers they act as mentors. The faculty also has an array of teaching pedagogy like case studies, management games and role plays. There is a heterogenous blend of faculty with faculty having 2-4 years experience and also those having over 20 years experience. The faculty also tries to come down to the level of the students while teaching. Most of them engage in experiential learning replete with examples from the corporate world. The case studies also provide a platform for the student to be in the role of decision makers and socializes them for the responsibilities of the corporate world.
