Entrance Preview :
KEAM is the entrance exam for B.Tech admission in RIT, as any other engineering college in Kerala. You have to score good enough to get into RIT as it is highly ranked among the colleges in Kerala now.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Currently the course curriculum is decided by the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala. It is good but not that updated with the recent technologies. Still you will get the basic understanding of Engineering and rest you have to acquire by your own.
Internships Opportunities :
There is an option of internship and I think in the new curriculum it is made compulsory. Most of the time, you will have to pay for the industrial training; but if you are really good, you can find some good companies which provide you stipend.
Placement Experience :
The placement opportunities are really good in RIT; compared to other colleges in Kerala. Students are getting hired in IT companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Qburst, UST global, IBS etc. Also core placements for ECE, EEE, Mechanical streams can be expected. Training and Placement Cell is doing well in the recent years so that all interested students can get placement training and most of the eligible students are getting placed.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure is still the cheapest for an engineering course in Kerala. Tuition fee is 6200 for an year and being a govt. institution it have all the benefits and options of scholarship for eligible students. Other fee waiver schemes based on govt. norms are also followed by the institution. So it is very much feasible.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There are no specific loans/scholarships provided by the college. There are some awards for best outgoing students and toppers given in the annual PTA meeting. But you can always apply for any govt. scholarships and all procedures and supports from the college will be provided for that. Education loans are being availed by many students in the college, but I don't have any personal experience.
Campus Life :
Being a government college, students can enjoy the maximum freedom. As an alumnus, I can assure you that you can enjoy the life in the campus. Our campus is active every day and lot of extra curricular activities are being conducted. KELI-the annual arts fest, NRITYA- an inter college dance fest, Yavanika- film show and our own RITU- the techno managerial fest are among my golden memories about the college life.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel facility provided by the college is limited. Admission to the college hostels are based on distance cum merit based formula from applicants. Hostel rooms are shared and LAN connectivity is provided. There are two girls hostels and a boys hostel. There are many PGs and hostels near the campus at an affordable rate. Even though, the subsidies available for the college hostel make it the best option for stay.
Exam Structure :
Now it is decided by the university and the schedule is up to them. Untill unless you have to appear for a back paper, you will never have two exams on the same day or adjacent days. You will be aware of the recent issues related to KTU exams. But it is not the case only for our college, so you have little to do about it.
Admission :
Admission procedure is well explained in the CEE Kerala website. You have to appear for the entrance exam conducted by them. If you are targetting B.Tech. admission, take science strem in plus two and score good marks. More details you can find in the website cee-kerala.org
Faculty :
We had really good faculties in the college and still most of them are continuing. RIT is a govt. college and the permanent faculty posts are filled via PSC exam. So you can always expect good and experienced faculties at RIT. Contract posts are filled via Interviews and most of the time they are also up to the level.
