Kumari Rashi's Review On Chandigarh University - [CU], Chandigarh

Remarks :

Things that attracted me1. Fee was reasonable2. Placement was good3. DiversityI went to the college and talked to some of the students. They said the university was good so I filled the form, paid security money and submitted my documents and the admission was done. I had to fight a bit for hostel inside the campus because all the hotels were outside that time for girls except one. The process was smoothly and they treated us well.Experience:1. Loads of memories2. Beautiful campus3. Teachers were not that experienced but were very supportive4. If you work hard they will keep giving you opportunity to get placed.

Course Curriculum Overview :

They follow the curriculum as per norms. I chose Electronics and Communication. Earlier they planned to teach us all the required ece courses and C++ ,c and Data structures bit as we moved ahead they added networking and OS seeing the vast opportunity. For sure the faculty was not trained enough for those but the college are learning and growing

Internships Opportunities :

No. I chosed training. From semester 1 onwards they start training in the skills or technology we want. As we move ahead we can train or get internship in aby firm. They also take us for industrial visit.

Placement Experience :

Placements are good but they are overfloodedWith students so the package is less. They train is 2-3 years to get palced well and most of us are placed but very less had good package. The tag of tier 3 College made it difficult for good package.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee was not too high but it kept increasing for new students every year. They provide scholarship to people with good performance, rankers in sports, army quota, and free education for SC of Punjab (as per rules). To maintain scholarship students need to have good score on academics except the people in sports. They just need to perform good in the game.

Campus Life :

I had a great experience. I grew as a person. I was part of NSS and participated in all sort of tech and literature events. Rules are a bit strict there but it was fun to break some and follow some. Hotels have good food quality but taste is bland. Gym , playground of volleyball, football, basketball, badminton etc. You name it. and you got it.

Hostel Facilities :

Girls hostels have strict wardens, regular attendance is there and a tuck shop and food is good. But boys hostel has cool warden, less rules but bad food. But they have so many food stalls around the hostels.

Admission :

No. But now they conduct scholarship entrance exam for New joiners. Entrance test is not mandatory to get admission. It will just provide scholarship. The admission process is super easy for all students who passes 12th board exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is very detailed and intricate, including some real life skills like communication, resume making etc ... I have no complaints regarding course as course not only prepare us for net exam also teaches us skills in bee keeping, fish keeping , etc depending on course mine is zoology Improvement, can be done by reducing the time duration of classes as University is very hectic classes last very long hours and it is very tough for new students with general elective subjects in first few years , as University perimeter from sector 14 and sector 25 , student have to rush from one sector to another for classes for general elective subjects. Teaching methods are impressive in my department and most of the departments Exams are not that frequent usually mid terms per 2.5 months and then final terms in further 2.5 months, practical work is very much and very hectic, practical exams are really difficult, but therios are at mediocrity

Placement Experience:

From last year students are eligible for placement drives. Accenture, tata consulting and codeyoung recently visited. The highest package as of now is ctc 7.5lpa. For placements priority is given to the engineering students. Comparatively we science students get less chances of getting placed.

Placement Experience:

From 5th semester students are eligible for campus placement ( only those students who have aggregate equals to or more than 60 and have no backlogs in previous semesters) Mainly private companies come for campus placements. Companies like Fanuc, EPL, Mexico, moderate, Hawkins, have are visited and packages of 3.5 lakhs are provided by these companies. About 90% of students are placed every year during campus placements. I want to do a job in BHEL.
