- There are lots of fests and skill enhancement free session take place in University, a lot of opportunities for different art forms and talents in University
- Girls to boys ratio is 70 / 30 . University is very pleasing to look at and also University premiere is highly maintained and well taken care of
Dislikes
- Election parties are very noisy and create nuisance during election time
- There is lot of politics going on in University, in which not only students some big ministers and proffersors are also involved. are
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum is very detailed and intricate, including some real life skills like communication, resume making etc ... I have no complaints regarding course as course not only prepare us for net exam also teaches us skills in bee keeping, fish keeping , etc depending on course mine is zoology Improvement, can be done by reducing the time duration of classes as University is very hectic classes last very long hours and it is very tough for new students with general elective subjects in first few years , as University perimeter from sector 14 and sector 25 , student have to rush from one sector to another for classes for general elective subjects. Teaching methods are impressive in my department and most of the departments Exams are not that frequent usually mid terms per 2.5 months and then final terms in further 2.5 months, practical work is very much and very hectic, practical exams are really difficult, but therios are at mediocrity
Internships Opportunities :
There is little to no internships provided by departments but department representatives of different departments take initiative of providing students some opportunities of internships which is also really negligible
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I am doing bsc Hons in zoology, the fees yearly is 11000 it increases as 12000 for bsc 2nd year 12500 for 3rd year , examination fees also varies from 3000 to 4800 yearly depending on which year you are studying, no lab fees , fees goes lower for reserved categories Fees goes same for all other 60 departments in panjab University but special degrees like BDS and engineering fees structure is on higher side You can apply for scholarships if you are a PWD person , EWS person etc... University placement cell of some department is good but other's isn't Some department representative take the initiative of providing students if their department internships and placement cell. Placement cell of special courses like engineering and dental department is really good For sc sct fees goes 500 or 1000 less 500 for examination and 1000 for yearly fees , the fees had increased a bit from last year probably 250 more Mess per meal fees had also increased from 38 normal to 44 and 45 special to 55
Campus Life :
Jhankar(one of the biggest fest of North india), lalkar , yearly rose festival, alot of others official and unofficial fest keep on going almost all year length usually in September most fest take place Pu have ac Joshi library and every department have their own library, ac Joshi have lakhs of books sectioned according to sciences arts etc etc... Books are very easily accessible Every class have projectors and their own laptops... Still I won't rank it higher as I have seen better , ac are not in most classes except seminar rooms which professors persist taking classes in around summers, curtains are provided if room is in too broadlight There is so many extracurricular activities like shooting range, hockey ,basketball courts , swimming anything you name is provided here but coaches are usually not free so you have to either practice with little coaching they provide or learn basics somewhere else ... Fees is also 75 rupee monthly Hectic life because if you want to join socialgroup
Hostel Facilities :
BgThere are 11 girls hostel including international girls hostel and 5 boys hostel Last hostels are recently built and good quality but hostels like 1 ,2 are built before independence and rooms are really small but bathroom are fine , old hostels are less pricy 6000 per demand new one varies between 9000 to 15000 per semester Meal are nice most of the time , meal quality is also average, nothing compares to home cooked food , food is according to what I have heard about pg and other universities Hostels are really affordable but only few students can get hostels depending on marks in cutoff ugpucet exam , but within few semesters even last students on list gets the hostels, you can also take hostel on guest basis , registration process is simple and online. I rented a pg 3 seated bathroom attached during first semester in 15 sector which are 13000 in year 2021 with ac no food ..... Pgs price vary with distance and bathroom atachability.
Admission :
I applied to Himachal Pradesh University, got admission there but I left the university because PU have better faculty and good work environment and better facilities too , it is only university in North India with open hostels 24/7 for both genders, university is High equipped with labs and instruments, with some of the biggest meusems in North India , university is built before independence making making heritage sites ..... I was rejected from vetenery college palampur because of higher cutoff of neet examination Exam for panjab University is ug pu cet for ug students and new admissions for MSC with pg pucet along with old students are taken without exam Enrollment is very easy , admission process is also not hectic cut off of ug exams go as far as 85 for general and 69 for reserved category Pg goes as low as 45 for reserved 50 for unreserved... Overall admission process was really simple and stress free
Faculty :
In my department there are 18 faculties and 150 students in whole department including PhD scholars . Faculties are not involved in any student affairs , usually it is students driven University where most decisions are taken by students and faculties follow... I didn't like dr .harvajan kaur because she is still in University after her retirement and lot of other proffersors too , because of their political influence they keep on extending..... their time in University and they are very influential, and will make sure you get job if you are their PhD student even if you are worthy of that or not making students suffer if those PhD passout teaches you.... There is semester system 2 sets of exam per semester, semester being 5 months in length , if student fail or don't give exam there is special chance where u can reapply, silver chain if not in special chance, golden and last chance Exams are mediocre to tough Course curriculum is very relevant and followed step to step by faculty
