Remarks :
During my pursuit of a good MBA, I initially looked for the best colleges and to get those I appeared for CAT and NMAT examinations. I wasn't able to get very high scores consistently throughout my academic years in 10th, 12th and Graduation so with whatever I got with me I looked for some decent MBA Schools. One of my friends suggested me for Thapar as he was also doing MBA from here only. So then I decided to appear for its selection process. Admission went quite smoothly as the first step was of initial online screening through which they were shortlisting the candidates for final counselling based on previous scores and academic history and also scores of NMAT and CAT. Once shortlisted I was called for further processes of Group Discussion and Final Interview. It went well as they only asked us about ourselves and what we did in our graduation.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I choose to do an MBA in Marketing as this was my field of interest. Also, the institute has a good reputation when it comes to courses for marketing so that was also one of the reasons I choose to do marketing. The faculty to student ratio was 4: 55 which was pretty decent given the complexity of the subject matter. The faculty was highly qualified most of them had doctorates in their field and the teaching method was also very interesting which was based on theoretical and practical approaches. Exams were quite applied and the difficulty level was always quite high and I believe this was the sole reason which helped me to cope up with the pressure of day to day work life as well.
Internships Opportunities :
Different companies came for internship purposes but the best among those were the startup that helped the person to get a chance for overall growth with the organization. I worked for a startup without a stipend but I was given the responsibility to handle the entire process of digital marketing with the organization and Facebook ads were something on which I worked extensively. It helped to attain the overall objective of the internship plus I was able to give a good outcome to the organization. Which in return helped me to complete my final project and get the best grades from it.
Placement Experience :
Placements are average as mainly the school brings fresh start ups or the organization which have less than 10 years of experience. Some big companies also come in to provide placements as well. The best company which came in during my time was American Express and they were also offering a decent salary package to the employees. The highest package was INR 17 LPA and on average, the Salary which was offered was INR 5.5 LPA. Maximum of the students were placed with more than 90% placement. I also got placed in two good companies as well.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The cost was pretty decent, we cannot say it was cheap or expensive but given the ROI I would say it was more on the expensive side but that is understandable because the idea is not to get placed but to get a good understanding and working knowledge of the domain as MBAs are not Job Seekers but Job Creators. There is a chance to get a scholarship as well based on a test. Student Loans can also be opted for as well. The fee hike is also there as the fee changes every year so that keeping an eye on the college website is a must.
Campus Life :
There was a freshers event named Frosh in the month of August which was basically for all the fresh joinees and after that, there were Marketing Mela in the month of October and Diwali Fest just after that. The library was quite good as it had almost all books from all the necessary genres. There was a sports event as well which consisted of many games and they were played in a knockout phase scenario. Amenities on the campus were also there. The sports complex was there and there were gyms and canteen as well which helped a student for overall development and entertainment was also there in all the phases which kept an individual glued to the entire experience.
Hostel Facilities :
There were fully furnished hostel rooms with availability with 3 students a room and 2 students a room arrangement respectively. The mess had decent food but I would say that there is a huge scope of improvement there. The registration process was simple and the teams provide ample help in the registration process as well. The cost to Benefit ratio is high which is why it is a good option to opt for the hostel facility in the organization.
Interview Experience :
Group Discussion during the admission process was basically regarding the key ideas the school followed and these were judged on the basis of how effective a student was in its explanation. Also, the interview was very generic based on one's profile and previous study matter.
