Remarks :
Basically, I had not applied for admission in any other college and have strictly chosen to take admission in the TDB college because this college is one of the largest constituents of the Kazi Nazrul University and a premier institution with highly qualified academicians imparting education in different fields. The college today enjoys a reputation for outstanding performance in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities. Students who are seeking admission in Bsc Honors courses in the TDB College, must have passed XII standard from any recognized Education Board with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and have obtained minimum 50% marks along with any other third subject.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I have chosen to study Bsc Botany because the diversity of this course allows students with different backgrounds, aptitudes and interests to find satisfying careers in plant biology. More than any other scientific fields, botany continues to provide various career opportunities for women as well as men in reputed organisations as a plant explorer, conservationist, ecologist, environment consultant, horticulturist, plant biochemist and farming consultant. The student to faculty ratio in our Botany department is 23:1 The Department of Botany of our college is well known for its untiring efforts and sincere dedication for setting the best standards of the teaching-learning process. The department also has very experienced and trained dedicated members in its faculty list who have recieved recognition at national and international levels.
Placement Experience :
Generally, all the final-year students of our college are eligible for campus placements. The Companies that visit our college during the campus placement are Accenture, Byjus, Capgemini, Wipro, Epam, Zoho, HSBC, and many more. The highest package offered is 15.90 lakhs per annum and the average package offered is 3.71 lakhs per annum. The placement cell of TDB College is a student-run body headed by teacher convenors appointed by the college administration, which is working towards the common goal of getting all the students placed in various companies. Around 89%-92% of the students sitting for campus placements get placed during the campus placements every year.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Teachers and Government bodies donate money to contribute for prizes and scholarships which are based on specific criterions. Almost more than 700 students gets benifited by these scholarships and varies as per the student requirements. The college also has the facility to give fee concession from 50-100% to the students based on their annual family income, family background,girl child,etc. Two awards of Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 are also given to the deserving and meretorious students every year by the college Alumni Association.
Campus Life :
The central library of our college now have 1.96 lakh books on various subjects like Hindi, Sanskrit, English Language and Literature, Music, Drawing and Painting, Home Science, Mathematics, Computer Science and several other subjects. It also has to subscribe to 120 journals of Indian and Foreign repute alongwith magazines and newspapers for general reading. The library also houses a rich reference collection of encyclopaedias like the Enclyclopaedia Britanicca, Enclyclopaedia Americana, Year Books, Atlases, and other reference materials. The classrooms are fitted with high-quality projects with wi-fi enabled desktops to help the faculties to utilise digital education benifits. The college has facilities for both outdoor and indoor games. It also has a huge sports ground and a basketball court between the college and the hostel premises. The sports complex of our college also has an indoor badminton court and a state of the art indoor shooting range.
Hostel Facilities :
The college hostel can accommodate nearly 1200 undergraduate and postgraduate students. It has a common room, a multifaceted gym, and arrangements for indoor and outdoor games. Dining facilities are managed on a cooperative basis by a Mess Committee of the College Authority. Power back-up is now available 24 hours a day. Medical facilities are provided at the University Service Health Center nearby. Students who are seeking hostel accommodation should apply separately on a prescribed form immediately after the finalization of their admission to the college. A seperate prospectus is available from the hostel office to guide the students for this purpose.
