VIPS :framing your best persona

Remarks :

Particularly for my course BA ECO(Hons), one has to give IPU CET. It was a 3-hour exam, there was no particular syllabus mentioned in the brochure except for the exam will be in the pattern that Mathematics will consist of 40% of the exam, Statistics and Economics will consist other 40% and remaining 20% were for General English. The exam was a combination of some numerical and major theoretical questions. Overall easy. In the counseling sessions, I only opted for MAIMS and VIPS as my preferences and the other 4 colleges as they were far from my place and not very reputed ones, even 3 out of the 4 were offering BA ECO the first time. I was a general Delhi student with a 901 rank in IPU CET. In the first 2 rounds, I was not allotted any college acc to cutoffs and my preference. In the 3rd round, I froze MAIMS and got admitted but I applied for Spot allotment to be in VIPS. And in Spot Allotment round 2 I got VIPS, it was overall a smooth process regarding the refund and procedure

Course Curriculum Overview :

BA ECO(Hons) is indeed a difficult course as everyone would suggest but I chose this course as I was keen to learn maths, stats, and economics combined. One who studies Eco in deep adopts an analytical mindset and the faculty of our college is a major part of developing this mindset for me. Our teachers irrespective of the time taught us everything in a deeper manner just to make our basics strong. The dean ma'am of our department (VSE) is the most polite and friendly mentor. In addition to the curriculum of the university, we are being taught an extra skill every semester like EXCEL, etc., followed by a certificate for each course. Exams being online were really easy to attempt and the marking is very lenient as well. We had 1 internal exam and 1 external in Semester 1 in a combination of presentations and assignments. For semester 2 we had tests and internal exams with presentations and assignments as GGSIPU canceled our externals. 1st year was overall an easy ride but online.

Internships Opportunities :

Being a 1st-year student I have not been offered any internships till now but my seniors are being offered various internships paid and unpaid I reputed organization with work being Data analysis, Policymaking, Public relations, etc., Our college also organized competitions for us to develop our project making and business strategizing skills and making us better for pursuing cooperate experience from the upcoming year.

Placement Experience :

Students become eligible for campus placements in 5th semester, there is nothing placement cells offer to 1st year students but there are variety of paid internships, tasks that placement cell offers for 2nd year students. As of I have been notified by our teachers and seniors many reputed companies like Deloitte, E&Y, DELL, Infosys ,etc., come for campus placements and as of past records 85-90% of the students get placed with an average package of 3-6 lakhs per annum. I have heard that the highest package that have been is of 9 lakhs p.a from our college. I would also try for campus placements after getting the degree , but I may go direct for my master's in economics as well.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee for first-year students was 1,04,800. This is a huge amount to incur especially in pandemic times, It would be worth it if we would have gone to college but for online it is really huge. There was no scholarship opportunity I encountered but financial assistance is being given to the EWS category and others Categories except general. There is no provision for payment in installments as well which is a bit disturbing but these fees really don't make sense to me anyways being conducted online. In the first year, there are no campus jobs or internships provided but as seniors told there are some internships and jobs provided by our department's placement cell.

Campus Life :

I always heard if you want an overall personality growth go to VIPS and after a year I know why everyone said this. VIPS has an ample amount of societies, functions, events according to everyone's interest. There are centralized societies like gender champion, finance and investment cell, Aflatoon, Antrakshar, etc., and many departmental societies like Arthvidya, Kalaa, VYOM, etc., VIPS works towards making a human better overall academically and personality while flourishing every student with ample opportunities. The classrooms were also one of the reasons I joined VIPS, super comfortable seats with centralized AC on the campus. Due to the pandemic, Idk about the fests but everything else has been top-notch in our college. There are 2-3 libraries in our college 1 specifically for Law students and the rest for others. There is a facility of a book bank as well if we don't want to buy books every semester. It would have been better if we had a wide variety to order in our canteen.

MAIMS was not located in a safe area. It was 8km away from Rithala metro station.

Placement Experience:

The Placement Cell of the college is very active. Students can avail themselves of the placement opportunities from the fifth semester. I have been selected as a content writer in the fifth semester. I was offered a 4.6 LPA in the esteemed company. More than 40 percent of students end up doing getting jobs. I have decided to earn some experience as a content writer and then apply for the MA journalism program.

Placement Experience:

For the courses like Architecture, Engineering, Law, Mass Communication, many big companies come for placements in Jamia. As my course is a Bachelors's subject under Arts, there aren't many placement opportunities. But I hope to pursue my Master in History after which I would try to get placed.

Placement Experience:

The placements for BA Program in particular are slightly lower as compared to other courses. Most students from the course opt for higher studies but the few who choose to sit for placements find it hard to land a job. Campus placements start in 5th semester and continue for the entire final year. A student is free to sit for as many companies as they like, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria like CGPA, course, etc. Most companies hire a maximum of 4 students owing to the small population of students at St. Stephen's. The highest package in 2021 was 18LPA and the average package is about 6 LPA-8 LPA.

Placement Experience:

Around 70% of the students get good campus placements, especially in the private sector. The average package for the students is 6,000,00 per annum. The highest package offered to the student varies between 25 lakhs to 35 lakhs. My plans are different as I want to pursue my higher education.

Placement Experience:

The placement of the college is good. It has tie ups with reputed news channels. But in our course, the college does not provide internships, students have do it themselves and they have to prepare their own youtube channel for work.

The management is an equally hardworking and efficient team like the faculties. They maintain a good relationship with the students as well as with the teachers and are approachable for both the parties. Their functioning has ensured that the college runs smoothly in terms of presenting itself to others.
