NIBM Mecca of Banking

Remarks :

I have applied to the Institute of Financial Management and Research Chennai, goa institute of management, great lakes institute of management Chennai, welingkar Mumbai and Bangalore etc. I have not availed any quota because there is not any quota available for students till last year but this year they are providing reservations according to Indian govt rules. Criteria for securing admission into the National Institute of Bank Management is very complex. First, the candidate needs to clear the entrance exam like CAT / XAT / CMAT ..Cut off for the Cat/xat/cmat were 80/80/95 till last year but this year cut off was changed due to the new reservation policy of the college. After clearing the cutoff Candidate need to appear for the Group discussion round and personal interview round. After clearing all three rounds the candidate will be offered admission into the institute. There were not any limitations as far as age is concerned. If you have a bachelor degree you are eligible.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course is more focused on banking and finance. In my BCom days, I was interested in a Financial role and especially for a bank. That's why I choose this college over others. The faculty/ student ratio is also very quite good. 1 mentor for 50 students. The faculty of the college is very good and knowledge .most of them have PhD in their fields and are veterans of their fields. Some faculty members are industry experts who provide practical knowledge to the students along with the theory. The curriculum of NIBM is very hectic, every month you need to give midterm and final exams. Passing the exams is very easy if you put a little effort into preparing for the exams.

Internships Opportunities :

College provides enough internship opportunities to the students. all the need to go through the internship after the end of term 3, many reputed companies like Morgan Stanley, CSb bank, etc come to provide internship opportunities to the students. The average internship salary ranges between 15000-25000 per student.

Placement Experience :

Placement is the main reason everybody pursues MBA, same is the reason with me. Placements of our are very good. The average package of my seniors was 10.7 LPA. All the students get equal opportunity to get placed rest is up to the student to find a good job role and a good pkg from a company. Companies from all over India come to recruit students like Deloitte, EY, Hdfc bank, axis bank etc.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees of the college are very less as compared to other schools. Fees are somewhat around 12 lakhs which includes the hostel fees as well. Most of the b school fees touch 20 lakh with hostel fees. I think it has one the best rely on investment when compared with other colleges. Also, students are provided with some Financial assistance like the college has a scholarship policy under which a scholarship of 1.5 lakh was given to 10 students who require real assistance or who find it difficult to pay the fees.

Campus Life :

Due to the current pandemic situation, I haven't visited the college yet but I was in contact with my seniors who used to tell me about campus life. Campus is full of greenery and full of flora and fauna. You can easily find peacocks over there and many animals. There are a lot of clubs and communities in the college like the Finance club investment club sports committee etc.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel is cheap and affordable and of good quality ..meals are very good, you will be allocated a room with anyone on a random basis. Quality of rooms and food is very good.. Facilities like refrigerator, cooking gas etc available in the hostel. You need to pay the electricity bill based on units consumed by you

Interview Experience :

Topics are different for different students ..my topic was Should the airlines be nationalised or not? I have prepared for the gd and interview round from youtube and I have joined the gdpi course of gkmojo for the preparation.

From trimester 4, students are eligible for placements. Every year, top pharmaceutical corporations pay visits to institutions. Pharmaceuticals, medical devices, market research, consulting, IT healthcare verticals, diagnostics, medical communication, nutraceuticals, and other related healthcare sectors are just a few of the industries where students might find work. Sales, marketing, business analysis, project management, client servicing and business development, international marketing, and operations are among the job profiles they pursue. Every year, the most expensive bundles change. Companies give PPOs to high-performing employees.

Placement Experience:

There is a summer internship after the first 3 trimesters where companies come for interviews and roles depend on the company that selects you. It is for 2-3 months usually and is compulsory ie a part of the curriculum to complete to qualify for the degree. Same for final placement, interviews begin after the 4th trimester is done. More than 50 companies came to campus for final placement and highest package given was 11.2 lakhs and average was 8.8 lakhs which depended on the company and the job role. Roles are offered for consulting, IT, media, manufacturing and banking and finance roles of HR Generalist, HR Business Analyst and Talent Acquisition. Companies such as Godrej, IndusInd bank, TCS, Zee, Meru, Capstone, etc were the prominent companies for the final placement. 100% placement was achieved for the HR specialization.

Students sit for their Summer placements from the 2nd Trimester onwards. NM has a trimester system. A total of 181 companies visited the campus for the Summers of 2020-22 batch. 28 of them were from Fortune 500 companies and 90 new recruits. The total number of offers made was roughly 650-700 and still counting. The highest stipend was 3 lakhs and the average stood at 1.2 lakhs. Top 50 offers clocked an average of 2.48 lakhs. The different profiles for which the companies came were IT analytics, Consulting, E-commerce, BFSI, FMCG, FMCD, Retail, Pharmaceutical, Media & Telecom, Logistics, oil, and gas, etc. NMIMS Mum has 100% placement records. After doing my MBA I plan to go back to Corporate and learn and implement at the workplace. Thereby have self-growth and also bring revenues to the company.

They do have a placement committee. Most of my classmates are already placed at top-notch brands and agencies through the placement cell. Post 9 months, we have to do a mandatory internship to get hands-on experience of the industry life and work culture.
