My Journey at SVKM'S NMIMS

Remarks :

The reasons for which I changes my mind from taking admission in other college and preferred this over others are its accreditation which is 'A+' by NAAC. Also, it has got accreditation by AACSB and is approved by AICTE and UGC. Further, our institution has collaboration with international University which gives global exposure to us. Also, the placement record is good. However, getting into this college was too easy as when I checked the eligibility criteria, I found myself eligible for the program and the college as well. Since, I opted for PGDM program, I submitted my form with NMAT score and previous educational details along with the application fee of 2000. Lastly, based on marks obtained in NMAT by GMAC and previous academic record, I was shortlisted for selection procedure round which comprises of Case Discussion and Personal Interview. Lastly, based on my performance and considering my score of academics as well, I got selected for PGDM

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum for PGDM is designed in conjunction of both industry practitioners and academicians. We get so many opportunities to learn new skills here. The pedagogy involve learning with the helps of case studies, live projects, industrial visit, research works and making us aware of the real world business problems which we will be facing further and they also help us out with perfect solution to fix it. Our faculty members who are highly experienced and qualified plays an important role in imparting the quality education along with other required skills like soft skills, personality development skills, managerial skills, entrepreneurial skills, and so forth.Further, our college follows trimester system and therefore, there are 6 trimesters in total. And the courses that are taught in 2 years PGDM program include risk and advisory consulting, cost and management accounting, financial management, strategic management, marketing management, microeconomics, and many more. Apart from this, several workshops are conducted and summer internship program is also offered to us.

Placement Experience :

The top employers participate in placement drive to offer jobs at different profile are JP Morgan, Google, Deloitte, Barclays, ICICI Bank, KPMG, Capgemini, HDFC Bank, and hundred of others. The highest CTC bagged from our department was 18 LPA while the average package witnessed was 7 LPA. The sectors from where most of the recruiters visited were Banking, Financial Services, IT, telecom, Media, Insurance, Logistics, and other. Moreover, the role or profile that was offered to the seniors of our department was of consultant, investment banking analyst, project specialist, associate, sales specialist, data analyst and product manager, and others as well. As much as I have seen, the placement record and the package offered are good in my college and especially for our department. So, in this case, I will prefer getting placed in good organisation rather than going for higher studies.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee for PGDM program that I opted for is 16.5 lakhs for both the years. Moreover, the break down of fee structure involves tuition fee, admission fee, examination fee, Caution deposit, and so on. Besides, our college offers scholarship provision for those who are economically weaker and belong to General, SC, ST categories, and physical disabled students. Also, on the basis of marks obtained in senior secondary education, scholarship is offered. Further, those who have obtained more than 80% in 12th and their family income is less than 6 lakh get scholarship as well. So, these were a few scholarships provided to those who fulfil the criteria set by our college. However, I couldn't avail the benefit of this scheme.

Campus Life :

In our college, various events are conducted a year-round and due to this, the campus life has been so vibrant since the day I got into here. First off, our college has too many clubs which keep on organising events and a few clubs which I am going to mention are movie club, social buzz club, Infinix Club, Manthan Club, Sports Committee, student council, and others. Furthermore, the student activities include quiz competition, Tvaran, Ignite, Fit India Movement, Inter College Football event, intra-college debate competition, Dandiya Raas, SPIC MACAY event, and so on.Apart from all above, likewise other colleges, fresher's day, convocation ceremony, farewell function, and celebration of festivals are done here and altogether, I am enjoying a lot. Most importantly, the facilities we get herein are that we have sports complex, music roomz library, seminar halls, modern classrooms, canteens, medical facilities, and others as well.

Placement Experience:

There is a dedicated placement cell that looks at the placements of MBA students. The final year students sit for placements. Until now the placements are not so good but it is improving at a steady rate. Companies such as Accenture, Deloitte, Flipkart, Amazon, ICICI Bank and others come for placements. I don’t have a clear idea about the packages offered but it was around 7-8 LPA on an average.

Placement Experience:

Placements here are decent. The average package of the batch is around 8 lakhs, which is nice considering the pandemic. A lot of good companies visit the campus like Goldman Sachs, Ernst, and Young, KPMG, Deloitte, etc. So, if you perform well here then you can get a good placement from the campus.

Entrance Preview:

I got admission on the bases of my undergraduate scores which was very good. Admission process of this college was good and very simple.

Placement Experience:

Companies like JP Morgan, KPMG, PWC, E&Y have come to the campus and offered 10000/- to 20000/- monthly stipend. I have attended roughly one of those. Regretfully, I cannot provide you with the details of the number of students placed and the exact amount offered because I was not a member of the placement cell. But the college had a placement cell which conducted weekly meetings and trained the students for interviews.
