Remarks :
When I was just about to complete my 12th for KV No 2 Udhampur, a seminar was conducted by Chandigarh University to convince students to enroll themselves in that University. They distributed a booklet to each. After opening that I found that the Agricultural Sciences course have an opportunity to get a job in private as well as in the public sector. Although there is not much scope in this course the syllabus is truly interesting and lets the students know to get aware of current affairs and also about the land properties on which they are living. This really creates a got interest to opt for this Agriculture course. Due to Covid- 19 Pandemic, I was unable to give ICAR entrance exam for government college and so I found that Chandigarh University itself has an entrance exam CUCET which gives you an opportunity to avail scholarships however there are other criteria to avail scholarships also like: 1.Ward of Faculty 2.Defence Ward 3.Single Girl Child 4.Also if you got 90+ % in 12th.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The agriculture sector is getting progressively day by day and also there is less competition in this course, and so I opt for this course. In the 1st semester, the faculty was making an effort to brief students very well. They share ppt and PDFs among us and used them to illustrate that. In the 2nd semester we came across some senior faculty and some newly admitted faculty and sp there was a variation of teaching in both kinds of faculty. However, they put up a semester of 3 months only and they use to take the mid-semester term tests every month after 11 and the final semester exam in 3rd month and so they just teach you the whole semester in around 40 days only. They really build up pressure in these 40 days also because we have to submit assignments, quiz and all the worksheets along with the presentation in these 40 days. There are hardly 10 days to relax and study, the rest of the days will be passing by doing assignments and all only.
Internships Opportunities :
They have no such internships for agricultural students however they provide many internships for engineering students and they are honestly good types of internships. But in Agriculture Course, you can opt for an internship like crop research analyst and can make a list of the observation in the field that can help you gain experience for field study.
Placement Experience :
After completion of 1st year, they divide students on the basis of taking placements or no placement students and they charge 10,000 extra those who opt for sitting in placement. They mainly focus on BTech students however in Agriculture some companies like Nestle visit and it started in 2019 only. Chandigarh University is not ICAR accredited so there is no surety that they will provide placements to agriculture students. However, you can take internships outside the campus and can also get a post in FOREST SERVICES after clearing UPSC-IFS. They provide coaching for civil services exams but they ask for fees i.e. 60,000 per year.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
In this agriculture course, the fees per semester are 72000 but it keeps increasing every year. They also ask for fee submission in advance and before completing a semester they will ask you for fees for the upcoming semester. They hardly give you 10 -15 days to submit 72000 and it takes too much time as the portals work too slow. Scholarships can be avail either by giving CUCET and if you failed to avail in that then you can email a form that is provided in the management portal for scholarship ( according to the criteria). But all the scholarships can be maintained only if you get a 7.5 CGPA every semester.
Campus Life :
They have to build up so many buildings. They used most of the the fees of students to maintain the infrastructure of the university. They also have Wi-Fi on the campus but it doesn't work. Also, there is a Library but very few useful books are available. There are so many fields for sports and extra curricular activities are held often. They also organise concerts in 2-3 months. The classroom is well developed.
