Remarks :
I cleared the CAT and applied for all the IIM'S including CAP which Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta. Lucknow, Kozhikode, Shillong, and all the 10 IIM's which come under CAP and also the 4 baby IIM's and out of the colleges mentioned I was able to clear Shillong all the Cap's and the baby IIM'S and the reason for joining Shillong were many and to name a few A better Alum Base. Better Placements. College was older. The reputation of the college. Tackling with the Alumnis. I had the SC Quota through which I got the required admission and they check. The admission criteria was a Case Bases GD and also in addition there is no such thing as minimum marks as the admission process has a very big weightage given to the interview so there is no lower limit to the marks you would have to enter the college. The process was fairly smooth and the counseling day was fairly quick and you had to submit the required documents which included the 10th 12th and the undergraduate mark sheets.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I was fairly confused about what to do after my graduation and my stream was biotechnology. I was fairly confused, so after evaluating all my options, I decided to do my MBA weighing up my pros and cons. The ratio is around 1:40 The faculty is fairly mixed with some very good teachers mixed with few average ones. The exams were quite timely and the exams were fairly easy barring some of the subjects.
Internships Opportunities :
The internship experience was not nice, but that was not the case with everyone and everybody has a different experience. The projects were related to business development and the role was of a program manager.
Placement Experience :
The placements are good enough but the statistics don't paint the whole picture and they somewhat hide the whole picture. The highest package was around 32 lakhs per annum and the average was around 16-17 Lakhs per annum. Around 95% of students get placed quite easily.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees hike is quite significant as the fees keep on increasing every year and at a rate of around 2 lakhs per year and the study abroad program which is one of the reasons for the massive fees is not that good. Usually, all the students take a student loan with a fairly good interest rate of around 8.5% or 9%.
Campus Life :
The Campus life was incredible as the place is quite good and the location is quite serene and plus the weather around the place is very pleasant. The classrooms are good enough and the sizes are good enough to hold the entire batch. The sports facilities are not quite good enough and the college does not have proper ground.
Hostel Facilities :
There are single rooms provided during the second year, but the first year we are on a sharing basis, which is a drawback. The meal is okay enough and that is decent enough as the food in every hostel is more or less the same. The registration process is very smooth and has one day.
Interview Experience :
The interview was fairly difficult and was a 40 min interview and the GD was a case-based GD and the case was about a company and its operations side. The process and other criteria I have already mentioned and it is the same for almost all the colleges. I had a talk with some of my mentors and my faculties.
