IIT Delhi at a Glance

Remarks :

The admission at IITs was based upon the GATE score and the written test or/and personal interview. The aggregate score based upon both the results is calculated and a merit list is prepared for the selection process. The minimum marks required is 60% throughout the academic career and there is no restriction on the age limit. On the counselling day, original mark sheets and documents are verified to check the eligibility at the required program.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum at IIT Delhi is very up to date with fixed deadlines as per the academic calendar of IIT. I chose this course since it is the only IIT that offers M.Tech in textiles in India and also the research environment at IIT Delhi is very encouraging. All faculties are very experienced having PhD and postdoctoral qualifications. The faculties are very helpful and encouraging us to go in depth about the subject.

Internships Opportunities :

B.Tech 3rd year students and M.Tech 1st year students are eligible to apply and go for internships. The internships opportunities are very good and many companies are coming for hiring interns and offering up to 1 lakh Rs during the training period. Also, students get a high chance to get PPO (pre placement offer) from the companies they go to for training.

Placement Experience :

The placements at IIT Delhi are amongst the highest in the country and are very good. The students in the final year are eligible to sit at placements and have to register themselves at OCS (offer of career services), IIT Delhi. About 85-90% of the students registering for placements are getting placed with an average of 8-9 LPA and highest ranging up to 30-35 LPA from Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Flipkart, Microsoft. Many students not opting for placements go for higher studies abroad.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees at IIT Delhi is around Rs 30,000 per semester that includes only the institute fees. However, hostel fees of Rs 25,000 are also applicable for messing and fooding at hostels. All M.Tech students admitted based on GATE rank and scope are eligible for a financial assistantship of Rs 12,400 per month for a period of 2 years. The on-campus placement at IIT Delhi is very good with an average package of 8-9 lakh per annum and the highest going up to 30 LPA.

Campus Life :

The annual fest at IIT Delhi is Rendezvous, a cultural fest that is very famous in India and is around 4 days long fest in which many events, participants and artists from many countries come to take part. The library at IIT Delhi is 3 floor centralized air conditioned which is opened round the clock 24*7. The collections of books and journals at IIT Delhi central library is very rich and has almost all books available. The lecture hall complex at IIT Delhi is also very good fully AC with all rooms equipped with projectors. The social life at IITD is also very good and has almost every games including the cricket ground, football ground, basketball and hockey ground and also all indoor games.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostels at IITD are very clean, well maintained and highly regulated by rules and regulations. The hostel facility is also very good and has a water cooler, Geyser on every floor. Moreover, for 1st 2nd 3rd year students these are on a twin sharing basis and M.Tech and PhD students are allotted single rooms. Every hostel has its own mess and has breakfast, lunch, evening tea, and dinner. The menu of the mess is very good including fruits, paneer, sweets etc. and has a different menu each day. The quality of the food is very hygenic and healthy with all measures taken while preparing the food.

Interview Experience :

Yes, there was a personal interview in front of the expert panel of 6 faculty members of the department. It was for about 20-30 minutes. The minimum marks required were 60% throughout my academic career. The preparation was simply of GATE level with a focus on a major project at B.Tech level.

Placement Experience:

Being one of the top institute of the nation, it offers very good placement but given the scenario of recession in the tech industry there is some slow down in the hiring in placement too. if I am not able to get the placement at the end of the course then I think I won't face any difficulty getting placement on my own but let's see what happens.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum of this course is good. Professors are supportive in nature. And one year is for project which help to learn new skills and enhance the previous one help to survive in real world. But in that one year there are some subjects which we have to study but it should not be there it should be completely dedicated to project work. Overall this is a very good course which help to train a student to learn technical part of chemistry or polymers. And there are a lot of scope in this field.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course workload is heavier, so it would prepare you for real-world work. Courses can be chosen from 2nd semester, so you are free to select courses of your likeness. There would be a minor exam and a major exam and a lot of assignments.
