Remarks :
I had applied for a bachelor of technology course in computer science and Engineering. Admission is based on JEE main ranking and score through the counselling process in the main campus of Amritsar. If by any chance seats remained vacant in any of the regional campuses then direct admission is also applicable. GNDU is a state government university and ranks 3rd best in Punjab. It has three regional campuses - Jalandhar, Gurdaspur and Sultanpur Lodhi and many other constituent colleges with its affiliation.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course is good but it somewhat lacks some practical experience and project management. The faculty is well qualified. Almost every faculty member is PhD holder. Teachers are quite adjustable in terms of attendance and exams. We have two exams every semester - The midterm and Major exam. Midterm carries 20 marks and Major exam 80 marks. There is at least one interdisciplinary course in each of the semesters. Punjabi is a compulsory subject in 1st year for both Punjabi and Non-Punjabi student.
Internships Opportunities :
frankly speaking, the university provides very few internship opportunities. the student has to apply for internships and workshops on his/her own. many universities provide summer training and internships but GNDU does not provide all that stuff otherwise campus placements are quite good.
Placement Experience :
GNDU has one of the best on campus placements in Punjab and in India too. Many multinational visit for campus recruitments like Amazon, Naggaro, TCS, Infosys, Capgemini etc. The highest package till now is 12 LPA and the average package is almost 3.5 LPA. Every year almost 88% of students of GNDU get placed. I will also be appearing for a placement drive on the main campus.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
fees structure is much affordable as compared to private institutions but still, it somewhat lacks in providing opportunities and services to students. The scholarship is applicable for students with less family income. Fee concession is also for SC, ST and OBC students.
Campus Life :
The campus has two blocks - IT and Engineering and Law and Journalism, one library, girls hostel and canteen. Infrastructure is not good as compared to other universities as it is a regional campus. Annual fests and sports day is organised in a year at student-teacher level. Apart from all this, there are many social clubs which work for serving society. Classrooms are quite simple. The campus has labs of different practical subjects. The library is good and caters to almost demand of every student.
