Remarks :

Overall, I would say IIT Delhi's management team does lot of good work in the development of its brand. They take care of every minute thing which is needed in a campus. Green and well maintained campus. Only bad thing from my side about IIT Delhi was the condition of old hostels. They were in a very poor condition and no step had been taken in those two years. Rest it was a beautiful and an awesome place to stay and study. To weave your dreams into reality. Even today, 4 of us use to go to IIT Delhi to attend Rendezvous every year as a get together and to be honest, to live those days again for 3 days.

Entrance Preview :

I passed GATE exam with 153 AIR in Physics. During my graduation, I underwent for Astro Physics course and thats the spot where I got to introduced to Polymers. As my Professor used to say that initially it was stone age, then iron age and then it was software age. But now its a Polymer age as we are all surrounded by Polymers everywhere we go. And thats where I developed the interest for this stream. I got an option for Optics, Solid State Materials in IIT Delhi, Corrosion Technology in IIT Roorkee and Optoelectronics in IIT Bombay but I chose Polymers as I wanted to learn more about them. And I am happy that I decided to go for this field as today I am working as a Researcher having interdisciplinary knowledge of Physics, Mathematics and Polymers.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Yeah it was just awesome. The Professor's were all very famous in this field. The course syllabus totally focused on research activities and involved lot of practical work. So helped me to develop competency in application area.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes, IITD does. The general range of stipend varies from 20-25 k per month. But it depends on the nature of the company. Usually, MNC's gave around 30-40 k for some projects also but in most of the cases, it was around 20-25 k.

Placement Experience :

The placement cell worked awesomely as I got my first job on campus in Gurgaon. Because of their efforts only, me and some of my colleagues got placed in very good companies. They used to call many companies and helped us to interact with HR in a productive way. So overall, they did a commendable job.

College Events :

There were lot of events like Tryst, Rendezvous, Sportech etc. But we used to love the Rendezvous most. It included 3 days of total fun and relaxation from hectic classes schedule. All big personalities used to come to perform like KK, Arijit Singh, Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Parikrama, Sonu Nigam, Farhan Akhtar and all. Very big event to enjoy.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

It was feasible. They helped students to get loans also from banks. In our case, it was very cheap as compared to Graduate courses. It had lots of scholarship's schemes and other facilities available too for financially challenged students which I used to love the most. Hostel fee was totally reasonable around 12-13 k for 6 months including food. But one bad thing was, you couldn't opt for only accommodation if you didn't like the food. You have to take the whole package.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

No. I didn't avail any scholarship from IIT Delhi. But I have heard that it has lot of scholarship's schemes available. Like to do PhD abroad, they have few scholarship's. In our department, the topper for first semester got DAAD scholarship to do his/her final project work of 6 months in Germany.

Campus Life :

Campus life was superb. IIT Delhi is located in heart of Delhi city. All famous markets and places are very nearby to campus. Gender ratio was around 50:50 I guess because we used to see lot of girls daily:) Near Nescafe of library, at windT. Sports activities were very well executed there. I was the part of IIT Delhi cricket team so I know lot of stuff about sports activities there. Also I was the Sports Secretary. It spends lot of money for sports and for for students welfare. Lot of sports events used to happen in campus every year. Labs used to have almost every equipment which was needed. Neat and clean labs. Lot of motivational sessions from famous people happened in those 2 years. I liked the on when Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal had come to share his journey in making the Airtel brand. One with the Professor Walter Luwin of MIT is worth mentioning here. He was just superb there with his lecture on Stars Formation In Outer Space.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel life was the most memorable days. Staying away from your family is quite difficult in starting days but then slowly, this hostel life is what makes you happy and comfortable as you have lots of things to learn from it. It makes you independent and confident. In IIT Delhi, we used to stay in Girnar Hostel which was newly built. So rooms condition was good. But mess food was the only concern. It was tasteless and boring so we normally used to go to hostel gate to eat paratha's from Shammi. He was the only saviour for us as far as food is concerned.

Alumni/Alumna :

Yes very much. Alumni's helped us to focus on what we need in life from their experience. In my case, Mr. A.K Gupta always supported me. Senior's were little bit losers. Most of them were having some weird attitude which I never understood.

Exam Structure :

It was not chilled out I would say. We had to spend lot of nights in library before the exams as it was nothing like spoon feeding. All practical questions were being asked in the exams and that's the best part. So we had to study the subject in depth to understand the basics behind it and were able to answer them. Yes few teachers were not as good as Mr. A.K Gupta and Mr. A.K Ghosh. They were like amazing in setting up the question papers. But we were lucky that we passed out somehow.

Faculty :

Mostly all of them were very supportive. If we keep one or two aside, rest all of them were really teachers who wanted us to learn something. About other departments, I don't know much because we didn't get much time to spend with them apart from some testing activities but overall, they all were very experienced and had core knowledge of their field. That's why they are in IIT.

Placement Experience:

From 3 semesters or in the final year students become eligible for placements. TCS HCL WIPRO Cognizant were some of the companies who came to our college and 15 offers were made there in our couse Highest Package offered was 10 Lacs and Average Package offered was 3.5 Lacs and lowest package offered was 2 lacs 60 Percent students got placed in our course and some students did not for placements as they were more interested in teaching and Research Field. My plan was to get a govt job or job in corporate sector as having a masters degree gives you some advantage in the govt exams In Case Student did not get any placements and then he can prepare for govt job and can do some course to keep him up to date with latest technologies in the industry and for better prospects

Remarks:

The campus is located in the NCR which provides it one of the best connectivity with rest of the country. Also it is located in one of the best locality. All the necessities hospital market metro etc are in close proximity ( also available Inside the campus). The campus is strictly bounded by the local colonies which and has almost utilised all of its land space so there is no possibility of expanding it physically which is now a challenge.
