Entrance Preview :
I got admission through AIEEE 2011. I got AIR within 20000. Being brought up in an industrial city I was always fascinated by equipment which encouraged me to opt for Chemical Engineering.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course is well distributed over all the semesters. First year curriculum is same for all the students to give them a basic knowledge of all the engineering discipline, each class have well mixed proportion of students of every branch. From second year onward student move to their respective branches. Electives are offered from 3rd year.
Internships Opportunities :
A few companies do offer internship like Microsoft, Godrej, ONGC. Stipend is most of the time not provided.
Placement Experience :
Placements are good. Many software companies like Microsoft, Snapdeal, Oracle offer packages well above 10 lacs. A few core companies like BPCL, GSFC also offers good packages above 8 lacs. Finance companies like Future first visits the campus on day zero and offer good package.
College Events :
We had 2 fests in a year, Mindbend- the techno managerial fest and Sparsh - the cultural fest. Mindbend is a pan India fest observed over four day. Sparsh is a five day fest, various competitions are held in day whereas dancing, singing, fashion and celebrity events are held at night. Also an inter-college sports fest is observed.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
During our time the fees was not much high as well as all the financially weak students are offered scholarship based on their parental income. The four year course costed me around 3.5 lacs including college, hostel and mess fees. But the fees structure had now changed and is probably around 6 lacs.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Scholarships are offered to financially weak students, parental income is the only criteria. Fees is next to nothing for SC/ST students.
Campus Life :
Like any engineering college, the gender ratio is not that good, may be around 15-20%. Parties are strictly prohibited inside the hostels. But the college is located in the posh area of Surat, which offers large number of food outlets and shopping malls in near vicinity. Around 4 robotics events are held during Mindbend.
Hostel Facilities :
The college infrastructure is simply awesome, with a lot of greenery. there are around 14 hostels, 6 of the them are newly built and have a capacity of around 800-900 students. There is only 1 girls' mega hostel. Each hostel have its own mess, the food is normally good, especially of girls' hostel.
Alumni/Alumna :
The Alumni network is good. they do help the Alma-matters whenever required. Many get-together are organised for the alumns.
Exam Structure :
In total we had 8 semesters, having two exams each - Mid-sem and End-sem. Though we had tests around the semester, the tests were informed well in advance. Grading system is followed. Mostly we had only one exam per day, though for mid-term there can be two papers per day.
Faculty :
All the faculties already had a PhD degree and were well experienced. Faculties always encourage research activities, in fact many under-graduates do assist masters guys n faculties in their research work. Many papers had been published in international journals.
