Ecole's Internship opportunities

Remarks :

I first found out about Ecole intuit lab through my father, who was invited to judge one of their juries. He was very impressed not only by what was being taught there but also by the quality of their student's work. I looked into their course, as well as their website and social media and instantly knew that I wanted to study there as they offered exchange programmes in France. I am now in my final year, almost about to graduate and I have learnt so much these past 4 years. Not only have I become a better designer, but also a better communicator. I applied to Ecole, through their website. It was a very simple and easy application process. They usually conduct their entrance test in person at campus, but since I was living in Delhi at the time, they let me give the creative intelligence test online. They also interviewed me when they came to Delhi for an event.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The professors at Ecole are actually working professionals in the design industry, through them we get to know ins and outs of the industry, as well as knowledge and advice on how to navigate through this world. The professors at Ecole are extremely skilled and knowledgeable, they know what's going in the industry and give us assignments that are fresh, current, and give us the freedom to explore our creativity. The faculty and teacher's are also very approachable and you feel comfortable going to them for any help you require. The course is very well structured and gives you in-depth knowledge on art, design as well as entrepreneurship.

Internships Opportunities :

Ecole offers internships with agencies like Thought Over Design, Starting Monday, Umbrella Design and many more. I interned at GWD KIDS, a children's home décor company in Mumbai for 4 months. During my internship, I worked on creating a line of products with different themes, I designed wallpaper, wall decals, posters as well as flash cards.

Placement Experience :

Students are expected to do a 1-2 month Internship after 2nd year and a 4-6 month internship during the 4th year. Ecole has an event called Design next which allows students and design agencies to interact .Design agencies look through our work and select students for an interview and placements. This is how I got my internship with GWD KIDS. Most students get internships and jobs through Ecole.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees for école is 6 Lakhs per annum, I am not aware if there are any scholarships available at the moment. There hasn't been a fees hike as long as I've been involved with Ecole Intuit Lab, Mumbai.

Campus Life :

The social life at campus is great. Ecole conducts many events and workshops with well renowned designers from all over the world, this gives students a lot of exposure and a chance to learn from some of the greats. The library is a calm space with many books on art and design. There are also student groups like the STU CLUB that are responsible for engaging the students and conducting fun field trips and activities.

Interview Experience :

There was a Creative Intelligence test conducted, which was more like a quiz to get to know their prospective students. They had questions like what are your favorite art styles, designers, movies. The creative intelligence test also came with a small drawing test to assess our skills. There is also a personal interview conducted by the faculty where you show 5-6 of your key pieces from your portfolio.

Placement Experience:

We have internships from the second year. This gears us towards industry life. In the summer before the third year, we need to intern for 1-3 months. In the 4th year, we intern for half the year and come back in the 2nd semester for our grand projects. Almost all of our students leave with an internship/job offer at the end of 4 years. This is due to the constant effort of our administration to organise exhibitions that invite industry greats. My plan after Ecole, is to work at a branding agency for a few years before pursuing an MFA in Graphic Design.

Being able to get admission is one of the dream come true for a student. To get admission in such highly competitive world where so many students are applying for a course and wants to follow their passion, it was very difficult to get admission in the college. The application process was simple though.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum of the course wants to break status quo and encourage the new innovative methods of learnings and explorings and set new ways. They want the students to feel and experience the design world. The students are also encouraged to learn and develop sensitive emotions so that they can improve their creativity level as well as are able to take up challenges to demonstrate their personal connection with the design philosophy.

This is not a full time course and a student can get admission in a regular full time course side by side. The admission process is easy and it involves the student to be passionate about the course. They check if the student has completed class 10+2 from any recognized school or board.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The main purpose of teaching this course to the passionate students is to provide them a pathway through different and distinctive levels of subject competencies and different areas about innovation and depth learning in the field of apparels, fashion and designing. The students are placed under the mentor who have a very good experience.

Candidates should have passed class 10+2 from any recognised university and the minimum percentage isn't required here as the selection criteria. The student can pursue a regular course like Bcom or BA along with this course. You can call the management on the hotline if there's any confusion and they will sort it out.

Placement Experience:

Most of the students start their own fashion house but few of them who are looking for full time job opportunities can contact the college placement department and let them know that they would be looking forward to the job placements offered by the college. They will fill the application form and will be interviewed at the time of the end of the program.

I was always interested in art and sketching in school, which in turn led to an assumption to many close relatives of mine, including my parents, that I will want to surely pursue a career in fine arts or something. My mom surfed more on the internet, and learnt about a design career, which is a combination of common other careers like engineering, architecture and commercial arts.

Admission:

There are 3 main competitive layers of the entrance exam. The first one is theoretical, and for that, many students including me were attending classes. I attended a class every weekend for two years which helped me pass the first theoretical exam of MIT institute of Design. After getting a call from the Institute about my selection, I got ready for my next exam, which was the Studio test.
