Remarks
The college has a very good infrastructure. There is a huge library, academic blocks, indoor stadium and the spaces are well developed. maintenance and development in college are up to date and in progress. Admission is through jee paper 2 for architecture. I got admission through the jee allotment and I preferred as per the college ranking. one of the bad aspects I felt is the high fees than other nits. also the lack of students connection with the authorities. academics are good and professors are well experienced.
Course Curriculum Overview
the course is actually tight in comparison with the engineer. As usual architecture students have very little time to enjoy in college or participate in different programs. but inside the architecture block, there is enough freedom for the students. professors are well experienced and graduated. there are enough professors in each class. normally there are about 2-3 professors in a single period. exams and periodical, in a single semester there are a mid sem and an end sem exam. preparation for the exam, you never get time, you have to manage somehow because there will be submission till the day before the exam. passing of exams are not big deal as you have marks to add on to it from assignments and other work submissions.
Internships Opportunities
no, for architecture, we have to do a six month internship program at 9th semester. which is not organised by the department. students have to find firms on their own and enroll in the internship. in this regards of placement and internship the college is far behind from other college. colleges of similar ranks like the nitc or trichy nit have better placement and internship offers
Placement Experience
campus placement is generally eligible in the last year. for architecture, the term campus placement is not fitting in this college. there is only a single company taking students from here in the name of campus placement. the intake is less than 5 students out of 80. more students go for starting a firm by their own or do post-graduation. i think ill do the post graduation after my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
fees are high in comparison with other colleges. per semester for our course, it's 66,750 rs just for academics. per year almost double the amount as academic fees and then a hostel and mess fees of about 44,000 per sem, which is almost 88k per year. altogether fees per year are higher than 2 lakhs. it's not ending here, then you have fees to buy materials and equipment for architecture which almost comes to about 10k per year. then the study tour fees which is incurred from the students, that too comes around 12k. including the expense of living it takes around 2.5 lakhs per year. there are several scholarships. for sc/st there is a complete refund of the academic fees. for obc category, they get 2/3 of academic fees as a refund. for other categories with family income less than 5 lakhs get 2/3 of the academics fee refund. for students with family income, less than 2 lakhs get a full refund of academic fees. there are few other scholarships from central and state government too.
Campus Life
mainly there are two big fests. one is the cultural and the next is tech-fest. these are normally 2-3 days program conducted in grand manner. students from all nits come here to participate. library is well equipped and digitalized. it is a big complex filled with innumerous books. each book can be accessed digitally, by knowing the exact location of the books. classroom have smart room exclusively used for presentation, these are air-conditioned and well developed technology. sports ground is a great attraction. there are spaces for almost every sports activity. an indoor stadium with badminton, chess, yoga, table tennis, spaces. outdoor cricket stadium and ground. newly build football ground, tennis, volleyball, basketball, etc courts. college is filled with actively working clubs all around. you have clubs for each and every aspects. from dance club to cycling club. every activity there is an active club responsible for its development. and each club has its own websites.
Hostel Facilities
2 members in a single room. bed, table, chair, cupboard each for each student. a single hostel consists of 10 floors with more than 850 rooms. there is facility of lifts. a canteen and stationery shop are available in the building. mess food is good but not the best. the problem coming here is the affordability. including both mess and room rent the fees is very much high. rooms are available outside the campus for rent. the college is situated in a town so there are sevel hotel and hostels around.
Interview Experience
the main admission procedure is through jee mains examination which takes place every year. there will be an interview which is basically for verifying your personal details and identity. there are several organisations that are directly giving coaching for admission for architecture. preparation for exam should be more focused on drawing and mathematics. in drawing part focus on perspectives and compositions. generally, students who are good at maths get selected easily as others choosing to write this exam are mostly good at drawing.
