Remarks
Admission process: Admission takes place on the basis of CAT score and group discussion and personal interview. CAT score is given 85% weightage. GD and PI have 7.5% weightage each. UBS is incomparable in terms of Return on Investment. And this has been my major reason for the selection of this college, along with its location in Chandigarh. Notable names of the industry visit the college for recruitment. And it provides enough exposure. The infrastructure is average. And there is less diversity in the batch. Academics are also average.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose international business due to my interest in knowing the workings of the companies on a global scale and developing a global mindset. The faculty is highly qualified but very few follow the up-to-date teaching methods. Exams schedule is defined and followed as such. Exams are timely and the difficulty level is average.
Internships Opportunities
Projects related to marketing research, sales, research etc. are offered in internships. Stipend ranges from 5000 to 50000. In the end, reports are prepared to showcase all the tasks done during the internship and the knowledge gained.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placement in the third semester. Companies like Infosys, HDFC bank, American Express, SBI, etc. visit the campus. 80-90% of the batch gets placed in the placement week itself. Profiles related to consulting, sales, marketing are offered. The highest domestic package offered ranged from 15-20 LPA and the average package is 10-12 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee hike is nominal and the overall cost course lies between 80000 to 100000, depending upon whether the hostel has opted or not. Considering the fees, there is hardly any requirement for financial assistance. Lucrative stipends are offered during summer internships, going aa high as 50000. My internship stipend was 10000.
Campus Life
There is no annual or tech fest conducted by UBS. But all the required books and journals are available in the library. Amenities in the classroom are sufficient but not very impressive. Sports activities are less but there are a lot of extracurricular activities conducted. Also, you can initiate and conduct such activities on your own. There are a lot of clubs in UBS like Investment club, Environment club, etc.
Interview Experience
GD topics are usually around current affairs. Since I had no job experience, my interview questions were based on the theoretical knowledge gained in B.Com. Other than GD and PI, the CAT score is considered. For GD and PI, I used to read more about current affairs and general knowledge. Also, I revised my B.Com subjects a little.
