Mangalam college of engineering is a good college to enjoy normal college life

Remarks :

About the good remark the college is having a good atmosphere in completing the studies and about the bad remark the college is not very much in supporting other extra curricular activities and also in celebrations and some events. The college is having some strict rules so will get a normal college life.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The college is under the Kerala technological University and it works under the instructions given by the university. The curriculum will help you gain a fixed amount of knowledge only but you can gain more knowledge from outside and also from college library. But to gain industry knowledge you should visit and gain experience directly for more knowledge. The curriculum is enough to get placements in any firm but you should score more marks to be alloted in the placement list. Exams will be conducted in every months and with in 4 to 5 months semester exams should be attended to pass the semester. Internal marks should be scored for attending semester exams. There was 1 industrial visit which we must be strictly attended, we can attend as many industrial visits for better knowledge.

Placement Experience :

The companies that visited the campus are HCL, Bosch, infotech, lenova, Tcl etc. Mostly are IT companies come for placement and lesser technical companies. Mostly the placements are after or in the third year, some are elected according to our mark percentage. If we are elected for a job in a company we can join after completing the course and we clear the back papers as soon as possible. There are nearly 30 students are placed every year may be more. There is a placement cell in the college which will give us knowledge about different company and also how to face placements. As a part of the university rules we should attend one compulsory internship for the certificate.

College Events :

Mostly third and fourth year students will do the arrangements for conducting college programs and all. If we get permissions for conducting any event, mostly the fund will be raised amongst the students and should be according to the rules given by the college. There will be cultural fest, onam celebrations, industrial visit with college tour and also technical fest, these are the big programs conducted in the college. In cultural fest any year student can participate in different events and in technical fest any one can join and win small amount of prizes.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The annual fees was 75000 and got raised to 80000 at the end of the course due to providing extra training in placement and all. The college accept money through bank so we should transfer them through the account. The progr fees are collected from students and for final years it will be nearly 2000 per person for conducting technical fest. The tution fees was nearly 75000 and extra charges for other services offered by the college

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I was not having any scholarship or loan. The college provide scholarship to students having above 90 percentage of marks in plus 2 and also they should not hold any back papers through out their studies, so they need to pay only 7000 per year

Campus Life :

Mostly the gender ratios were even. As per economic status every one are treated equally. The fees for non general cast were lower than that of general cast.In every semester there are two lab papers for lab and workshop practices and they were quite good and having different equipments and we can Learn more from practice. There were competition like foodball, cricket, basketball, chess etc with other colleges and students find there own time to practice for the events and on the event days the college will give duty leave for the absentees. The overall campus life was average.

Hostel Facilities :

No, but as I know the college hostel is quite good but the mess food is of average. The girls hostel is inside the college compound and the boys hostel is outside the college compound, Everyone should enter the hostel by 6.30 PM

Alumni/Alumna :

The seniors are very helpfull in finding jobs after the completion of the course and they will help us in completing the back papers that are pending. But in the college there were clashes and fightings with them as a part of college life

Admission :

In the allotment list of kerala entrance examination I got selected to this college, which I choosed for my engineering studies due to, it was a nearby college for me as a dayscholer. I choosed mechanical engineering course due to the suggestion from my friends and also I am interested more in this field than other fields and also it will be having more scope for future.

Faculty :

The faculties are very helpfull in completing the semester papers, they will give hints and tips for studying and doing problems also they arrange self made notes for easy studying as per the syllabus. There are nearly 15 members in each department and a total of above 50 lectures. They are of different ages from 26 to nearly 45. The older ones are better in teaching because they have experience and mostly are post graduated. Some are having PhD so they are elected as the Head of the department. The faculties will clarify the doubts as per our needs and will recommend about different books to refer.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum contains a vast area of nursing aspects and they include OSKI as a new component of the nursing curriculum which prepares as well enough to face the job interviews ahead. But the time limit is so short that we find it difficult to complete the syllabus on time. As the syallabus has changed to semester system we are expected to write exams more frequently but that is good as it helps as to improve our writing skills.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Architecture is a tough and time taking course, the syllabus fine in the first three years but later on it becomes hectic. Maybe the syllabus can be reduced and I feel that five years is too long for architecture degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course mainly because of the job opportunities. There is plenty of teaching and non-teaching staff in the college. All the teaching staff has Mastered nursing and all are very talented teachers. The teaching method is lecturing and av aids are also used by the teachers like projectors. The exams are conducted after the completion of each unit. It's an average tough exam to score good marks. The only problem is that exams will be conducted daily and the personal behavior of some staff may vary from person to person.

No campus placement is provided by college because it is a government college. After getting degree I planned to practice in Kerala high court and also wants to attempt judicial service examination. I also planned to join LLM at central University or in Canada. In Canada there are many opportunities for LLB graduates.
