Remarks :
I would say College is improving every year. Before leaving the college most of the things improved. Academic stuffs results, fee payments, filing complaints everything improved a lot with time. I would say 2020 and years after is the best time to join IIT BHU.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum was well defined and relevant. We had one or sometimes two lab classes every semester so that we can learn the application part of stuffs. And during 3rd and 4th year of the college we were made to engage ourselves in proper research works so that we can develop as a researcher we wanted to. Regarding Campus placements, mostly IT companies requiring programming, Analysis and management companies come to the college. Only few core companies come for campus placements. And because I belong to chemical eng. most of the good companies are PSUs. So knowing this fact almost every student regardless of their branches start preparing for Programming interviews. And also because they offer good salary.
Placement Experience :
There are more than 200 companies that visit my college for placements. But mostly they were software related. So almost every student has to prepare for software programming to secure a placement. Few companies come for Data analyst and management posts. I prepared for Data Analyst which is a booming area for the future of corporates. And got placed in a reputed company for the same. Placement process is very easy we just had to get shortlisted in the exams that the companies conducted. But exam timings can get hectic some times, because 200+ companies takes exam within a month, so we had to give exams at 5am which is very early to as late as 12am in the midnight.
College Events :
There are a lot of events that is celebrated in our college. The very first event is held for the 1st year students were they open up and dance together. This event is called as Saturnalia in our college. Apart from this various small to major events take place in the college. The best being the sport fest (Spardha) Technical fest (Technex) and the Cultural fest (Kashiyatra). All of these happens in a very celebrated way which lasts for full 3days from day till night. And the best part about these events happens in the night. Every night of these event has a major celebration subevent were singers, bands, Dj's, and many more are invited.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
During my years in the college fee structure was feasible. Which was around 56k per semester. But for new entrance there was a fee hike and they had to pay 1lac per semester. Which is a lot for IIT BHU. Because IIT BHU is a comparably a new IIT and i don't think the infrastructure met the amount the college was asking from the students. Apart from this there was an additional 12k we had to pay as mess charge advance. Which was quite reasonable.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I did not avail any schorlarship. But there was a scholarship offered in the very first year. It was called as merit cum means. Which only was given to 10% of top students of every branch after 1st semester and category students were also included in the 10%.
Campus Life :
Sex-ratio in the college was very poor until new government rule of giving 20% reservations to female students. When i was in 1st year out of 1000 students only 47 female students took admission in the college. Rest 953 students were male. So you can understand how poor it was. Now after the new rule almost 200 female students took admission which is good for the country as we will get more female IITIANS. Extra curricular activities are good in the college. In sports Girls get equal or more to participate in inter college events because of their low strengths. And in our technical fest we have all shorts of robotics competitions namely robowars, Rc car, rc plane and more.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel was a compulsory for my college. And we had 2 seats per room. Rooms were not spacious. Taking into consideration IIT BHU is in a university that was built 100years from today and the hostel are also that old. I can excuse this. Every room had lan ports, charging ports fans and lights, beds for each student. Every hostel had their own canteen. Which opened at 4pm in the evening till 4am in the morning.
Alumni/Alumna :
When I joined the college we had ragging issue. Which was not very bad but there was very less interaction with seniors because of fear in junior students. But nowadays situation is better. And juniors interact freely with seniors. And they are not afraid of coming to seniors hostels. Regarding alumni network, we have a whatsapp group were we are in touch with three to 4years senior alumni. So its pretty strong. And we get offers in the group now and then.
Admission :
After completing 12th from Chaitanya i gave entrance test of IIT and luckily qualified in the very first attempt. And according to the choices i filled and my rank, I got Chemical eng. in IIT BHU, Varanasi. Admission process was online. The list of branches were provided and we had to fill them according to our choices. So to get a relevant branch of interest. I chose IIT bhu because i wanted to live in the northern part of india during my college years. I had been living in south for my schooling, so i had this in my mind while choosing which IIT to choose.
Faculty :
Most of the profeesors are very good and help students whenever they are stuck into problems. I have had the best profeesors I can ask for. They helped in every aspects to me, whether personal or academic. There are few staffs which are not as par to the level of IITs but there are some flaws in every institutions which I can excuse.
