Remarks

The way it handles the students and faculties is quite praiseworthy. The only thing that I find a bit too much is the amount of money that is spends on Advertisement. IIHM has literally flooded the whole Salt Lake area with posters of itself, which considering how famous this already is, is unnecessary.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is quite vast since we are required to study all the departments of the hotel for the first two years of the course. The learning imparted is the basic knowledge of all the hotel procedures and the technicalities required to run the hotel. Semester Exams happen in two parts- For each semester there are two exams by the name of Assignment 1 and Assignment 2. The exams are actually quite effective since we aren't tested of just our bookish knowledge but we are tested on our practical skills and our presentational skills as well. All these aspects have definitely improved me in areas in which I used to lag behind, especially public speaking and presentations. Yes IIHM organised industrial visits to various hotels for us to get a better idea of what our future employers would be like. My group was taken to the ITC Royal Bengal.

Placement Experience

5

IIHM Kolkata guarantees all its students a 100% placement in various leading hotel chains like ITC, Hyatt, Taj, Oberoi among others. The hotels coming for placements pay special attention to the students' personalities and speaking skills along with the academic qualifications. Yes the college takes special classes to prepare students for the placement season where they are taught to stay calm and composed and are given tips about how to stay calm and composed during the interviews.

College Events

4.5

IIHM organises YCO - Young Chef Olympiad for students from 20+ countries every year. Here the students compete in a culinary competition and the winners are announced in a gala event which is beautifully organised. IIHM Kolkata usually hires Nicco Park's Waterside for the majority of its events. Apart from that, IIHM also organises Food Fests where students get to manage the whole event.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The Fees is quite expensive when compared to similar colleges in this industry. My total program fee is ‰â_6, 36, 000, broken down into three installments of ‰â_2, 12, 000 each to be paid at the start of every year. The accepted mode of payments are NEFTs, Cheques, RTGSs and Cash. No, the only additional charge that I had to pay was the ‰â_600 for the E-chat registration form.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes IIHM offers 10% scholarships based on a student's attendance and academic progress. To avail the scholarship students need to have atleast 85% of aggregate attendance and a semester score of 75+. The average sum provided for the scholarship is around 20, 000.

Campus Life

IIHM has a fairly 1:1 gender ratio. The diversity that we get to see is quite vast since we have people from different cultures and regions of India. The students here are quite tolerant towards others of a difference race or ethnicity. Students from alot of different backgrounds study in harmony in this college. We have labs for every departments of the hotel where we are imparted with practical knowledge of those departments. For example we have Kitchens and bakeries to teach us Food Production, A dummy Hotel Reception to help us understand the basics of Front Office Management and similar things.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors here are quite helpful when it comes to sharing their experiences and knowledge. Infact a few classes during our Induction Period were taken by seniors of our college. Naturally some seniors are cocky and rude but the rest of them are quite nice to youngsters like us.

Admission

IIHM organises an online exam called the E-chat exam for the admissions. I took the E-chat exam on 7th of April 2019 and got selected for the second round that consisted of the Personal Interview and Group Discussion. I did fairly well in those two as well and secured my admission to this college. I opted for this course since I wanted to follow my passion, which is food. And IIHM is the best in business since it is the most popular Hospitality College chains in a number of countries that guarantees you a job in 5 star hotels with a 100% placement record to boast the former fact.

Faculty

4.5

The faculties here are also quite good and knowledgeable since they too hold many years of Hospitality experience themselves. We have probably 7 to 8 lecturers for a single department which makes the total number of lecturers around 60. The average age of most of them is around 40 with the exception of some faculties who are slightly older. All of them are highly qualified in their departments of expertise and are ready to help the students in every way possible.

Placements depends on your skills Usually there is a compulsory internship at the end of 3rd year If you didnt get it via college you should do it from outside but its compulsory And at the end of 4th year you get placement. Placemeng isnt 100% . If you have the skill you will get placed thats the criteria.many people say you are in IIT your life is sorted .but that aint the reality

Course Curriculum Overview:

The university is MAKAUT so the curriculum is up to the mark. I liked Programming so I chose B.TECH in CSE. The curriculum is very basic in terms of practical world problem though they are building blocks, but you need to do the extra bit of work to qualify for the real world scenarios. I think more mandatory projects integrated with current set of skills would be a cherry on top. Exams are very frequent like every 3-4 months there is a semester exam and they are moderately difficult.
