Arun Krishna G S's Review On College Of Engineering - [CEM] Munnar, Idukki

Remarks :

This college has excellent faculty members and infrastructure. It is surrounded by the hills of Munnar, the Kashmir of South India, which provides a cool and wonderful climate. This college has excellent laboratory facilities which caters to the need of every students. Entrepreneurship skills of students are promoted and ensures the facilities and support to start a company or start-up.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The couse curriculum is focused on preparing the students to fulfil the needs of modern world. The curriculum is revised periodically. The academics are student friendly. The faculties have immense knowledge in their own fields and are aware of the general global happenings and trends. Our academic structure focuses on indrustrial visits and compulsory internships that helps us to get an industrial exposure. I think Rajith sir was good. He taught us basic mechanical engineering.

Placement Experience :

Many international companies like Sutherland Global Services , 6D Technologies, Armenia solutions, etc came to our college for placements. Students were placed in Tata Elxsi, Infosys, IBM, etc. The college has an active student placement cell headed by a placement officer and coordinators who coordinates the placement activities. 98% of the students were placed this year. There have been times when there were 100% placement. Our alumni students work in many of the leading companies and they also help our students to get placed in their companies. Our students also works under many top institutions of our country like ISRO.

College Events :

During the last academic year, there was two technical festivals- Kaizen and Evensia, where students from across the country participated. These are national level events where more than 270 students took part. There is an annual cultural fest named Iliad exclusively for our college students.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I availed the AICTE Fee Waiver Scheme and Central Sector Scholarship. The college also offers many state, national and international level scholarships.

Campus Life :

College has a wifi enabled campus, excellent and large library facilities with many international journals, periodicals, newspapers, novels, textbooks and reference books. There is also a large ground for sports activities and college also has its own sports team which secured prizes in many competitions. The labs are quipped with all the necesaary equipments which are well maintained by professionals.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel has good infrastructure facilities with heater, filter and other necessary equipments. The campus is residential, so there are enough facilities for accommodating all students in the college. Hostels rooms are sufficiently large and is shared by 3 or 4 students in common. The rent is very low costing almost 3000 or 4000 per month. It is easy to avail hostel facility any time of the year by writing a request to the principal and getting approval.

The students become eligible for the campus placements in the 6th semester. The average students getting placed in the mechanical department are about 30%. My plan after completing my mechanical engineering degree is to go for masters in business administration

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum contains a vast area of nursing aspects and they include OSKI as a new component of the nursing curriculum which prepares as well enough to face the job interviews ahead. But the time limit is so short that we find it difficult to complete the syllabus on time. As the syallabus has changed to semester system we are expected to write exams more frequently but that is good as it helps as to improve our writing skills.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Architecture is a tough and time taking course, the syllabus fine in the first three years but later on it becomes hectic. Maybe the syllabus can be reduced and I feel that five years is too long for architecture degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course mainly because of the job opportunities. There is plenty of teaching and non-teaching staff in the college. All the teaching staff has Mastered nursing and all are very talented teachers. The teaching method is lecturing and av aids are also used by the teachers like projectors. The exams are conducted after the completion of each unit. It's an average tough exam to score good marks. The only problem is that exams will be conducted daily and the personal behavior of some staff may vary from person to person.

No campus placement is provided by college because it is a government college. After getting degree I planned to practice in Kerala high court and also wants to attempt judicial service examination. I also planned to join LLM at central University or in Canada. In Canada there are many opportunities for LLB graduates.
