Malavika T's Review On College Of Engineering - [CEM] Munnar, Idukki

Remarks :

I chose this university because I like being part of a diverse student body. The world is a big place, and I thought admission in this college would better prepare me for life in the real world. My university has a very strong school of sciences, and I wanted to study under the best minds in the country.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Fee Structure And Facilities Its one of the government aided college, so fees are decided by the government. One of the feasible fee structure is there. For securing admission, no additional fees to be paid. College provides transparency in the fee breakdown.

Placement Experience :

We have a placement cell in our college. From 1st sem onwards, students are getting trained to attend placements. So many reputed companies like Infosys, Wipro, UST Global, Speridian, etc. were visiting our college regularly. Most of the companies are just looking students communication skill mainly apart from academics.

College Events :

No ragging was there in our college. All students are friendly in nature. Politics is there in our college. We have often conducted strikes if necessary. In our college, so many students from different states and different culture are studying here. But no discrimination activities are occuring.IEEE events are organised every yearly. This event consist of so many students from different parts of India. So many reputed deligates were conducting some classes in this event. Arts festival (ILIAD) is one important cultural program conducting in our college. Sports was also conducting every year.

Campus Life :

Central Library of College of Engineering Munnar is sprawling over a carpet area , with a three storeyedlibrary structure, Central Library of the institution stands ahead of time with ample spaces for reading, reference, e-learning and for technical services. Its location, ambient climate, enriched with flora and fauna, cool breeze from dawn to dusk, clean air mixed with the pouring of mist make any academician to envy. Its an modern technical learning centre equipped with Gurukul style of academic pursuit for maintaining professional ethics.

Hostel Facilities :

Yes. I opted for hostel. There were four students sharing one room. Hostel seats are only limited. PG facilities are also there. But it was a little bit costly. Food quality provided in our hostel was not good.

The students become eligible for the campus placements in the 6th semester. The average students getting placed in the mechanical department are about 30%. My plan after completing my mechanical engineering degree is to go for masters in business administration

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum contains a vast area of nursing aspects and they include OSKI as a new component of the nursing curriculum which prepares as well enough to face the job interviews ahead. But the time limit is so short that we find it difficult to complete the syllabus on time. As the syallabus has changed to semester system we are expected to write exams more frequently but that is good as it helps as to improve our writing skills.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Architecture is a tough and time taking course, the syllabus fine in the first three years but later on it becomes hectic. Maybe the syllabus can be reduced and I feel that five years is too long for architecture degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course mainly because of the job opportunities. There is plenty of teaching and non-teaching staff in the college. All the teaching staff has Mastered nursing and all are very talented teachers. The teaching method is lecturing and av aids are also used by the teachers like projectors. The exams are conducted after the completion of each unit. It's an average tough exam to score good marks. The only problem is that exams will be conducted daily and the personal behavior of some staff may vary from person to person.

No campus placement is provided by college because it is a government college. After getting degree I planned to practice in Kerala high court and also wants to attempt judicial service examination. I also planned to join LLM at central University or in Canada. In Canada there are many opportunities for LLB graduates.
