Remarks :

Management is little old fashioned and rigid based on academics more as compared to industry relevant knowledge. Rest of the things are very good in this regard.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is little old but it is necessary because for learning new things we need strong basic background in our subjects. Curriculum is not specifically industry based, it is very basic but some subjects have industry specific detailing in the end of the course. The alignment of course towards industry or research background mostly depends on respective professors. Curriculum is very aptly suited for securing campus placements, some companies ask questions directly from the lecture notes of the professors. No industrial visits for students was organised.

Placement Experience :

Placements are almost 100% each year, with students getting placed in only 10 days of campusing. Companies specific to E&ECE Course are Texas Instruments, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Google Hardware, Mentor Graphics and many others. Seniors provide ample resources for preparing and grooming sudents for campus placements.

College Events :

Technical: kshitij Cultural: Spring Fest Management: global entrepreneurship summit (GES) Spring fest is the biggest event followed by kshitij and then GES both in terms of participation and in terms of viewers. Typically 10k students from all over india come to participate in spring fest and 6k come in kshitij.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee structure is feasible with easily available scholar loan from the SBI branch locatd in campus. Fee structure is based on the annual family income, which is declared by each student at the start of academic session. Institute accepts online payments and challan payments both. No, admission is strictly based on JoSAA merit list. Fee breakdown in completly transparent and accessible to all.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Yes here are many scholarship opportunities and almost all sudents manage to obtain one, you can however only avail one scholarship even if you qualify for multiple. Different scholarships have different criterias ranging from gpa to family income criteria. Te can be found on institue website erp. iitkgp. ac. in. We have to apply online through the institute erp portal for respective scholarships and upload supporting documents for the same, average sum which I recieved was 33k.

Campus Life :

Campus life is very vibrant and diverse with ample opportunities to explore and grow into any field on one’s choice be it sports, cultural, management, software or industry related fields. There are many societies in the campus run by students for almost all possible fields: business, quiz, dramatics, math, physics, entrepreneurship, dance, music and many others. All societies are really good with scientific mehodolgy in their practise and are extremely competetive at national levels securing medals in many events from time to time. Gender ratio is little poor 10 to 1 for boys. Students regularly organise parties themselves in food stalls, canteens or their own hostel rooms. Cultural societies regularly conduct workshops to educate people about their culture and practices. Students come from extremely divers and political backgrounds and have a very healthy discussion time to time with others. There are societies for supporting LGBTQ groups and people are educated time to time by their workshops.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostels are ample inside the campus (called Halls of Residence). Single, souble and triple sharing rooms are available in the campus. Hostel fees( including mess and electricity charges) typically is around 30k for students with family income less than 5 lpa.

Alumni/Alumna :

Senior students are extremly helpfull and supportive, they are the main source of support for learning and training during campus placements and internship preparations. Alumnis do not directly come in touch with us, but they regularly support the institute through funds to different societies and institute bodies. Alumni network in industries also help us in securing internships and placements.

Admission :

I got admission through JEE ADVANCED 2017. I opted for electronics because it is a growing and challenging field with advanced applications of physics in this jew digital world. This institute is the oldest IIT Of our country with very advanced alumni reach and academic faculty. It has a very sound base of research scholars with huge contributions to researching field and a very promising world rank. The steps are first giving JEE MAIN during April 2017, once we qualify in jee main then top 2. 5L (in 2017) students were declared to be eligible to appear for JEE ADVANCED 2017. This exam was held at various centres all over india involving moderate to high difficulty of questions. Finally after exam, the rank list of all students is declared 1 month after jee advanced exams. This rank list is used for admission to IITs all over india. The process of admission to IITs, NITs, GFTIs, IIITs is done by JoSAA. Students need to register on the JosAA portal and create a priority list of department and institutes of their choice. After selecting and locking the priority list, JoSAA releases the allotted colleges in the first round of counselling, students reach respective counselling centres close to their home towns for registering their choice, after several rounds of counselling process, final list of allotted institutres is declared for all students and respective dates of start of academic process is declared.

Faculty :

Tentatively we have around 10 lecturers in one semester for typically 5 theory courses and 2 lab courses. Average age is 45 and all professors atleast have a phD from reputed worldwide institutes, some even have post doctorate in heir fields. All professors are highly expert in their field, some lack the ability to impart knowledge clearly but they have a very vast industry and research based knowledge.

Remarks:

Nothing is perfect in the whole universe. There were loopholes in the college administration and there were a few, not-so-good guys, who did mistreat with students but thanks to the higher authorities, those were never a permanent issue.
