My Review

Remarks :

Great people, lacks a bit in infrastructure but otherwise a great college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is a little bit old and not too up to date as compared to the world. But it still provides the basic skills that a company of that industry needs. The exam structure is like of any university in India and it is fair. It makes us a better professional in the way that it gives us all the essential skills and then makes us think to get out of the problem.

Placement Experience :

Placements is excellent in the college. Almost 97% of students secure an on campus placement offer or a higher degree admission. There is a special cell for placements and almost every major company of india as well as the biggest players like Apple, Google, Samsung, Microsoft Redmond, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, P&G, HUL and many more hire from the college every year.

College Events :

There are 3 major events in the college, Spardha - the sports fest, Kashiyatra - the cultural fest and Technex - the technomanagement fest of the college. They are the biggest with pro nites and participation exceeding 50k students and people. Other than that, each club and most departments have their own fests which are smaller and a select group of people apply.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee for the program is about 1lac rupees per semester which is feasible by indian standards. The amount is roughly 1400 USD for each semester. The college is transparent in its fee payments and each of the costs are shown when the fees is to be paid. And being a institute operated by the government, everything is clear and no extra charges have to be paid to secure admission.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Not opted. Yes the college offers scholarships to students who cannot afford the fee. The eligibility criteria is a mix of academic excellence and financial inability.

Campus Life :

The campus life is great as there is a whole city of Varanasi to explore with its mix of old and new. It is considered one of the oldest cities in the world and it has a lot to offer. Extracurriculars are run by the students and professors are involved if required. There are ample opportunities for one to pursue his hobbies. The labs are a bit old but that does not come much in the way of things.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostels are a little crowded as of before the COVID crisis. But the plans of 8 more hostels was planned which would effectively made the rooms and space double than what it is now. But otherwise the quality of the hostels is good.

Alumni/Alumna :

The institute has a vast alumni network built over 100 years of its existence. The network is helpful in finding and securing opportunities. The seniors are helpful and they carry forward the legacy and skills adding some of their own. There is more peer to peer learning and seniors help in that the most.

Admission :

The NTA under the MHRD of GOI conducts the JEE Mains exam which is conducted throughout India. Out of the 10-11 lac candidates, the top 2 lac are qualified to give JEE Advanced which is conducted by the IITs and the college then conducts counseling after which the seats are allotted.

Faculty :

There are about 50 professors in the department and almost all hold PhDs from either reputed foreign universities or from other IITs. They have vast knowledge of their field and most of them work with government organizations in in various fields. They also do research with other companies.

In this college, there is 100 percent placement of all students. But some students choose to take admission in post-graduation. Post-graduation course is not available in this college due to University policy.
