Course Curriculum Overview :
The course is quite complete in the sense that all the basics are provided but can definitely be improved in providing specializations. The teachers are helpful and willing to share their knowledge and experiences and are extremely supportive outside the class if the need be. Industrial exposure is good however, one need to ask the management for the arrangement of industrial trips which may not occur otherwise. The placements at Jamia have been improving year by year. There are some highly reputed companies coming on campus and the packages are competitive.
Internships Opportunities :
I interned at Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. which was unpaid. I was able to avail the internship through a competition which is organized by MSIL every year and of which Jamia is one of the best participants.
College Events :
Life on campus is peaceful. There are various cultural, technical, extra-curricular as well as sports events throughout the year. The footfall in central events is obviously larger as compared to department-conducted events. However, it is always pleasing to be a part of these events both as spectators and volunteers. The Foundation Day is the biggest celebration of the year which is celebrated annually for 3 days and is always flooded with students and outsiders alike.
Campus Life :
Amazing infrastructure. Jamia is one of the few government universities which has splendid and aesthetic infrastructure. I have been to many other colleges but still find Jamia to be one of the best in terms of its infrastructure. Jamia has a huge sports complex by the name of MAK Pataudi sports complex and is renowned for its facilities and area. Enclosed are cricket field, football field, tennis court, table tennis and badminton courts, gymnasium, running tracks, among many others. All the students receive access to high speed wi-fi connections. The central library is known to host books not just from India but abroad as well. The digital resource platforms provides workstations for students to carry out researches. The reading rooms are plenty and spacious and well maintained with some departments including engineering having separate and special library and reading rooms of their own. The labs are well built and spacious however the equipment at times can be improved.
Hostel Facilities :
Since I reside in Delhi, I personally didn't need a hostel. However, many of the friends in hostels have told about the hostels being great in terms of infrastructure and surroundings. The newly built hostels obviously being more advanced than the older ones. It is easier for girls to avail the hostel facilities as compared to boys due to lesser competition and almost all the of the girls opting for it receive it. It can be tougher for boys however, new hostels are being added to accommodate more students. There are also separate hostels for special purposes like NRI students pr students who are preparing for certain examintaions.
