Remarks :
Kaziranga University in North-East India is one of the top private institutes offering a wide variety of courses that are taught by some of the best minds in the country. The syllabus is up-to-date, and we are taught all the latest technologies with practical learning methods so that we can cope up with the fast-evolving world. Along with this, we are also provided with excellent and well-equipped classroom and hostel infrastructure and a good environment to study in, and this is the reason why I chose this college over others. The admission procedure is totally merit-based, where a candidate must pass 10+2, or equivalent examination with Physics/Maths/Computer as one of the subjects, and should secure a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in case of open category, and minimum 40% marks for SC/ST category. Application forms are generally available from the month of July, and admission starts from the 1st week of August.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose this course because I always had the strongest urge to explore the field of Computer Science. I wanted to learn programming, and in the duration of 3 years, I learned most of the latest and core programming and scripting languages like C, Java, Python, and Linux. The number of faculties in our department is 7, and the number of students is approximately 300. The faculties are highly educated in their areas. Most of them are Ph.D. graduates. They use all the practical teaching methods like a projector for explaining through PPTs, a smart-board for a detailed explanation, and laptops for practical programming. They help the students in providing enough skills for a job-ready future. Frequent tests and two internal tests per semester are conducted. Further, a qualifying exam is conducted each semester. Questions asked in the exam are quite challenging, and the ones having proper knowledge on the subject can score good marks. In this way, the skills of the students are tested.
Placement Experience :
Students are generally eligible for campus placements by the end of the course. We are trained in a way so that we are skilled enough to crack the placement interview. Frequent sessions are conducted, where we are taught about how to participate in group discussions, and also how to answer in Personal Interview sessions. Although not many core companies for our course visit the campus, we are also allowed to sit for placements in sales and marketing companies, and some IT companies, depending on the job profiles offered. Top recruiting companies visiting the campus include- Amul, Nestle Pvt. Ltd, Byju's, Jaro's education, Extra Marks Education, Google Ads, Genpact, and Cognizant. Almost 70-80% of students get placed every year. The highest salary package offered to date is INR 2 Lakhs per annum and the average salary package offered is INR 3 Lakhs per annum. After completing my degree, I want to go for higher studies in the same field for better knowledge and better job opportunities.
Campus Life :
The University conducts one of the biggest Winter Fests in North-East India, named "TALENT TANTRA". More than 50 events are conducted in the fields of sports, literature, business, technology, drama, art, music, and dance, including prom nights, where celebrities visit to entertain the students. Tech fests like TechBlitz and Internal Hackathon are conducted every year, where a platform is provided for the students to come up with innovative ideas by utilizing the latest technologies in the field of IT. There are 2 large libraries with all the essential journals and books for each department, providing a peaceful environment to study in. The classrooms and labs are well-equipped with all the necessary amenities like a projector, a smart-board, centralized AC, free WiFi connectivity, and comfortable seating arrangements. Clubs like Art & Culture, Body & Soul, Literary, Community, and Entrepreneurship conduct frequent events for the students so that they can indulge in various activities.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facilities are quite good. There are 2 hostels each for boys and girls, each providing two, three, and four-seater rooms with comfortable beds, a large wardrobe, a cupboard, ceiling fans, and a study table with a chair for each student. The rooms are bright, fresh, and airy, and are cleaned regularly to maintain the hygiene of the hostel. Free WiFi, along with 24x7 electricity and running water are also provided in each hostel. The food served in the hostel is moderate in taste, but hygienic in quality. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner are provided in time, with a wide assortment of food items on the menu. Both veg and non-veg food options are available for the students based on their requirements. Two-seater rooms with AC cost INR 65,000, and INR 55,000 without AC per semester. Three-seater and four-seater rooms cost INR 42,500, and INR 35,000 respectively for each semester. The prices are quite affordable, keeping in mind the comfort and necessary facilities provided.
