Remarks

I would like to praise my college management as the college is very much disciplined. Our director sir is very caring. The college has good library facility, most of the faculties teach well and computer labs have sufficient amount of computers. Also it has a very strong placement cell. However my college lagged in 2 things. The 1st thing is the computer lab faculties were not good enough and 2nd is the college did not take any responsibility for our internship. We had to arrange it in our own.

Entrance Preview

I appeared for WB JEE 2002 and my rank was 2232. I wanted to study computer science and as per my rank I had option to choose any of the 3 good colleges - IEM, techno india and heritage institute. But I chose IEM as I heard from different sources that campus recruitment is very good there.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course was a full time B.Tech in CSE. The course was for 4 years and each year was divided in 2 semesters. The 1st year was for having a general idea on different engineering like civil, mechanical, electronics, etc. And few other subjects like Physics,Chemistry,Mathematics,English, etc. The next 3 years were totally focused on Computer Science subjects like - Database management,Operating system, Computer Architecture,Automata, compiler design, different programming languages like java,c,etc. and only few electronics engineering oriented subjects like- digital electronics, microprocessor etc.

Internships Opportunities

No stipend was offered. No companies came for our training programme. The students arranged it from outside in their own and some people who had good channels could manage to do their internship through company like TCS,CTS,etc.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement opportunity was excellent. The companies like Tcs,CTS,wipro, connectiva, Siemens,Shore Consultancy and IBM came for campus recruitment. Also IEM college arranged some pool campuses for us like -HCL,Infosys and few more. They all were offerinf packages in 2lakh to 3 lakh range per annum. I got job in Siemens and my package was 3 lakh.

College Events

2

Only one festival per year the college used to arrange and that was very enjoying. In one year we brought cactus band and it was a real good experience. The event used to continue for 3 days every year.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not avail any loan facility. But I think there is a United bank branch in the ground floor of our main college campus which provides loan facility. So far I know no scholarship facility is available in my college.

Campus Life

3.5

The college campus is very sparsed. The distance between the main and other campus was atleast 300 mtr. The main campus is small in the sense that the building comprises 70 percent of the main campus. There was a small ground. No facilities were there for indoor games and I never saw any person to play any outdoor games. Actually almost all thw students were day scholar and after college got completed everybody use to rush for going back home. The male and female ratio in the college was around 7:3.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I did not avail hostel facility but I know that my college did not have a good hostel facility. In our year only 4 students availed that.

Alumni/Alumna

Actually our college director sir did not allow any ragging. So that is why interaction with college seniors were very less. However few of our college seniors and I were daily commuters from VIP road keshtopur region and had some chance to interact with them. They were very helpful and whenever I required any help, they were with me. I can remember one day I forgot to bring my purse and had no money to reavh college and I was getting very late for the college and no option to come back home. At that time one of my seniors helped me to reach college. I can never forget this incident in my lifetime.

Exam Structure

There were 6 subjects in each semester and we had 2 short term exams before final exam in each semester. In my opinion those 2 short term exams were very effective for preparation of semester exam. The marks of those short term exams were added in semeater exam.

Faculty

4

Apart from few bad faculties most of them were very good. They had good underatansing of the respective subjects they taught, like Debika mam for Database management and operating system and Biswajoy sir for digital, microprocessor and compiler design were really awesome.

Placement Experience:

Placements depends on your skills Usually there is a compulsory internship at the end of 3rd year If you didnt get it via college you should do it from outside but its compulsory And at the end of 4th year you get placement. Placemeng isnt 100% . If you have the skill you will get placed thats the criteria.many people say you are in IIT your life is sorted .but that aint the reality

I read in CSE(AIML) AI ML perspective and couse curriculam inluenced me to admit in college. Teachers often make real-world applications gor any pariculatr topic. I think more practical based an implement based curriculam should be added rather than more theorital subs. Most case college is form 9am -5 pm Like (9-5 job) .

Course Curriculum Overview:

The university is MAKAUT so the curriculum is up to the mark. I liked Programming so I chose B.TECH in CSE. The curriculum is very basic in terms of practical world problem though they are building blocks, but you need to do the extra bit of work to qualify for the real world scenarios. I think more mandatory projects integrated with current set of skills would be a cherry on top. Exams are very frequent like every 3-4 months there is a semester exam and they are moderately difficult.
