Remarks :
If you need to persue academics it's the right place otherwise it's not the place to achieve something big in sports or cultural activities because then you should have taken up other majors. Institute lacks infrastructure but it's enough to get you through without any hindrance in academia, projects or research.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum is upto date although it becomes a bit hectic but it ensures that we are well aware of the industry knowledge as well as the research trends in academia. Exam structure for almost all the course is like we have 2 tests which are lined up before and after midsem and carry 10-20% weightage, midsem carries 30-40% weightage and endsem 40-50%. Few instructor tweak with the weightage and introduce more critera but broadly it remains the same.
Placement Experience :
Placement and job scenario is getting better with time. Most of the companies which turn up for placements were startups yer they offered a good placement and now bigger names are turning up like Samsung, Directi etc.
College Events :
We have a annual techno curltural fest, Yuvaan but it's below mediocre level. Students are working hard to get it right and big. Average footfall is around 300-400. Still it's quite enjoyable given that there are no other events which are conducted at this level. There are certain clubs which really try hard but son become inactive due to lesser participation since curriculum keeps everyone busy.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Fee structure is comparable to other government Institutes so there is no debate on that. Still it might be expensive for some and moderately priced for others. It's upto personal consideration whether one can invest this much or not.
Fees and Financial Aid :
I can't say anything about loan or scholarship as I didn't require any of those. Loans are available with the banks which are there in the vicinity of the campus like SBI or PNB, a lot of students have taken loans for these banks.
Campus Life :
Gender ratio will improve with coming batches. Students can attend workshop in our own Institute or at IIT Guwahati, they invite students to attend the workshops, they might be free or paid but usually Institute conducts it's own workshops which are pretty good.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel infrastructure is really good. To be honest one of the best as far as I have observed compared to few NITs and IITs. Rooms are offered with double occupancy which were previously to be singly occupied but were later converted into bunk beds.
Alumni/Alumna :
They're really helpful regardless of whether they're place or whatever company they're in whether it's a startup or IT giant like Microsoft. They will help with the tasks as small as reviewing your CV or bigger tasks like referring for an internship.
Admission :
The admission process involves taking up JEE Main exam, prior to which one has to ser the order of preferred colleges/Institutions during counseling. If the rank is enough to get that Institute a student can register to that Institute prior to that round of counseling. Counseling has 7 rounds and 2 special rounds.
Faculty :
Faculties are the best part of this Institute. They're really helpful and approachable whether it's regarding doubts, projects or research. They appreciate student participation and encourage a research atmosphere within the Institute.
