Remarks :
Minor politics like in any organization can be seen. Teachers pet can be seen based on the interests of students. Nothing major to be worried about though. On a scale of 1 to 10 for recommendation, the college will surely be at 9.
Entrance Preview :
NA, Admission was based on merit. Hence no entrance exams needed. Reason for choosing the field was to have a growth oriented course instead of the trade on all engineering or medical.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course focuses on 4 verticals of hotel industry. Food ProductionFood and Beverage ServiceFront Office ManagementHousekeeping Students opt for their preference during the course to specialize in which shapes up the career. With a strong alumni network and good staff networking, placement options are plenty. Being an autonomous Institute, the program is designed for student development on soft skills, finance, travel and tourism, facilities management, etcIt also gives opportunity for practical experience through industry exposure at various points of the course.
Internships Opportunities :
Internship was for 6 months with very little stipend. The placement option do come from the best hotels from the industry. Recently, more recruitment are happening in the restaurant industry. Some options are also coming from the food processing sector.
Placement Experience :
The industry network and alumni helps in getting good placements. Initial offers are low but as you grow along with experience and expertise, the earnings start getting substantially higher. Need to keep learning on daily basis to ensure that you are catching up with the industry.
College Events :
Various food festivals from time to time. Social activities. Visiting guest lecturers and practical demos. Annual convocation ceremony. Traditional eventsThe vastness depends on the type of event. Food shows attract outside members through ticket sales by students. Internal events have students and parents attending.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
It is pretty feasible being a government run organisation. Options are available for discounted structure as per the quota. The course fees was 3500 INR for 1st 2 years and 7500 for the 3rd year. Not sure about the current structure.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Did not use it. Not too sure on requirements as the fee structure is quite reasonable.
Campus Life :
Campus life encourages various events. Participation is mostly compulsory as it has an impact on the final results. Gender ratio is almost 50 50. There are also quota based admissions which help in having a multi cultural student and faculty.
Hostel Facilities :
There is no hostel facility. Plenty of options are available near the college for PG and rentals depending on the cost that can be afforded. Connectivity from any part of the city is also great which helps in getting low cost accommodation. Due to food practical mostly the students end up getting food in the college for the noon.
Alumni/Alumna :
The alumni network is well spread. Annual alumni events are conducted to network and socialize. In most cases the seniors are supportive and committed towards the organisation and it's development.
Exam Structure :
It was moderate level of examinations. Higher focus on practical examinations with a time slot of 5 hours analyzed by industry experts along with internal staff. Regular written examinations for 3 hour time frame.
Faculty :
With a combination of fixed and visiting faculties, the team is well networked and highly qualified in their subjects to ensure a good career direction to the students. High focus on practical skill development helps the students to emerge out as strong contenders in the industry.
