Remarks :
Few people in the management were Anti - students. Rather be supporting students, they always wanted to criticize us.
Course Curriculum Overview :
To be honest the curriculum is quite old. We have studied the same course what people 15 years back studied. The books were still same. There are laboratories to perform practicals, but they were more used to take theoritical classes. After enrollment, we thought we would be placed under machines and would be taught reaearch aspects, but it was more on a student part. Student have to do it on their own. The exam structure is good. There are regular sessionals, assignments, tests, and at the end semester examination. The SIDCUL (Haridwar) and other indhstrial areas nearby is a big advantage. The regular visits to various industries and factories are worth for the Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil engineering students. There are frequent visits by Company professional, which helps in professional grroming of students.
Placement Experience :
Placements were quite good. During our time almost everyone was placed in one or the other organization. Around 80% students were placed at the end of the final year. But the placements were more into sales & marketing sector, IT sector, and talent acquisition department. Core companies very rarely visited the college for campus placements. Also the average package at which students were placed was around 1.5 to 2.5 lac per anum. The recruitment drive process is quite easy and favourable to students. As far as internship is considered, college didn't helped in finding one. The students had to manage on their own.
College Events :
There are various college events that held on an anual basis. a) Zion - the cultural fest b) Manthan - the technical fest c) Expressions - Linguistic fest d) Haritima - eco fest e) kaipoche - kite flying competition f) aakriti The fest were inter-college and many colleges around the state and outside state used to participate. The fund for the fest are organised thourough sponsorships. The committees organising the fest and events, are led by students itself. Students are directly organising events, which is quite a good personality building exercise.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
During our time, fee structure was feasible. We have paid nearly about 2 lac per year, which is same as any other privately funded college in India. Fee structure can be seen as : a) Tution fees - ?1,05,000* b) Hostel fees - 60,000* (for shared room) and 75,000* (for single room) c) Mess fees - 10,000* d) Security Deposit(once for a course) - ?18000* e) University Fees- ?6000* * - as on 2015. Please visit College website for update fee structure. As I was enrolled thourough JEE counselling so I have'nt paid any extra fees to secure my seat in the course. College accepts fees in any modes you want to pay ( demand drafts, cash, cheques, challan payment, online payment).
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There are few seats in every course reserve for students who are acdemically strong but financially weak. In our course there were 6 seats out of 120 that was reserved for such students. Such students are wajved off from paying tution fees and have to pay just the hostel abd university fees. The procedure is thourough counselling only. Once a student who has a quite good rank in the state and is financially weak can opt for the Tution Fee Waiver seat.
Campus Life :
Female to male gender ratio in Mechanical, civil and electrical was very low. Low as 0.025. It was quite balanced in Computer Science and Information Technology departments. One of the best part is that you got to meet people from various states. It literally helped in learning the diversity of India. Most of the students were from middle class families. The students in hostel lived like a family and always supported each other.
Hostel Facilities :
Yes I have opted for hostels. There are option for shared rooms and as well as single rooms. There are two person per room in shared rooms. The rooms are quite spacious and the location of hostel is one ever wanted. The hostel is surrounded by lush green farms and the environment is very peaceful, ideal for study. The greenry around the college and hostels are the biggest positive. In case the rokms are full in the hostel there are few paying guests around or else you can take a bus or thouree wheeler to roorkee city (7 km from college) where one can find ample of pg(s) and rooms on rent.
Alumni/Alumna :
College seniors were more than a family. They were very helpful in every aspect and treated us like a younger brother. Alimni used to visit college and provide us the motivational session.
Admission :
I got into the college thourough JEE ( Joint Entrance Examination). My state rank was under 2000. After general counseling I was enrolled in B Tech in Mechanical Engineering in the year 2015. JEE was conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education). The institute is very reputed in the state. Many almunus are doing pretty well in their life. As I got admission thourough counselling, so here are the steps of admission procedure: a) I Wrote JEE examination on 4th April, 2015. b) After getting a scorecard, I enrolled into counselling web portal in July 2015, where I have opted for my preference course in desired colleges of the state. c) I was alotted B Tech in Mechanical Engineering in COER. d) I appeared for screening in August, 2015. After verifying my academic and personal details. I was enrolled into the course. e) Finally after a day long orientation, I have joined Mechanical Department as a First year student.
Faculty :
The time we were enrolled, there were faculties that were more experienced and had a good academic background. We have also seen faculties who have previously worked at IIT(s). But later many of the experienced faculties left and more young people were employed to teach us. Our department (Mechanical Engineering) is led by very experienced lady. We had more than 10 lecturers for Mechanical Engineering. Few of the lecturers hold a solid industrial experience. But few were still pursuing M Tech and Phd(s).
