Remarks :

Very helpful management, teachers as well as coordinators are very efficient and responsive. The overall infrastructure may be a bit wanting however, the support from the faculty and admin is commendable. A few professors are very student friendly and take up issues for and with the students.

Entrance Preview :

IIFT written entrance exam i scored 59.5 / 100 it has sectional cut-offs as well i opted for this as it is a Tier-1 college and gives global exposure as well as specialised focus on international business. And it has very famous alumni in addition to a 53 year old legacy under the Government of India.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is very apt and contemporarily relevant. The electives offered are Marketing, Finance, Trade, Operations, Strategy and IT. IT and Strategy, however, are only offered as minors and not as majors(specialisation). A number of courses like International Marketing Management, International Financial Management, Management of Global Sourcing etc, in addition to the regular courses, are very relevant for an industry insight. Additionally, the trade subjects are a speciality of IIFT.

Placement Experience :

College Events :

The annual College Fest, is an amalgam of management and cultural events. The management events witnessed participation from more than 50 B-Schools last year and the Star Cultural events included Femina Miss India, Vishal and Shekhar, Indian Ocean as well as a startup fair. The celebrations for festivals such as christmas, Holi, Diwali, Independence Day, Republic Day, and other college parties, as well as participation in colleges across Delhi and NCR add to the fun. UWL is an IPL - like celebration amongst all students - involving real money and across 15 sports. The Big Fight is another event focusing on cultural and sports competitions. The other events celebrated are college parties wherein the students get a chance to unwind, relax and have fun! Fresher's, Reverse Freshers, Farewell, Big fight parties etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The Fees are expensive.Tuition fees (payable in 6 instalments - one for each trimester) - total for the course is INR 13,90,000, Hostel fees (annually) - INR 55,000 per year mess fees - INR 11250 per trimester this is for the general category. For the SC/ST/OBC category, the fees are reduced by half (50%)Thus, the fees are a bit expensive, but the value is totally worth it. Also, with location of the institute in South Delhi, the hostel charges actually work out fine.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Dewang Mehta scholarship award to students who excel academically (a CGPA of atleast 3.7 out of 4.33) is annually awarded. Also, SBI has tied up with IIFT and offers educational loan (including mess fess and hostel fees) at a subsidized rate of 10.5%, without any collateral or guarantee whatsoever.

Campus Life :

The gender ratio being 1:3, girls account for 25% of the student population. One of the hostels is a co-ed hostel. There is no discrimination of any kind whatsoever and one can see students from all over the world , including countries such as Nepal, Kuwait, Dubai, coming for education. There is a student exchange programme as well wherein students study at Universities in Europe such as AIESEC and Rennes in France, or Spain as well. Competitions are also conducted by admin as well as by the student body and inter-B School competitions are also very sought after. Cash prizes upto Rs. 50,000 can be won in such competitions.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel rooms are triple sharing in first year, and dual sharing in second year. The hostels are decent, with one bathroom shared by 2 rooms in the first year (6 people share a bathroom) while it is one per room (2 people) in the second year.It is a residential programme so the students have to compulsorily stay on campus, even for localites. The mess food is okay, with four meals a day starting from breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. The variety of food is good and the Menu is same for the week. Changes are made to the menu every month. Thus, for the month of August (say), the menu will be same for each Monday, or each Thursday, and so on. But, the menu for August and September shall be different.

Alumni/Alumna :

A very extended and senior alumni network is prevalent and each year, six chapter meets are held in India and Dubai. Additionally, the Grand Alumni Reunion is also held each year around November - December. The alumni network is very strong as alumni are at very senior positions in organisations in the corporate world. The senior students are very helpful and friendly.

Exam Structure :

The course is divided into Trimesters, so there are three times that main exams are conducted every year. The marking is - 60% internal assessment, which includes quizzes and other activities such as attendance, Presentation, Group assignment and Projects and 40% external End-Term Assessment. Even though MBA life can be initially overwhelming and a bit hectic. later the students adjust and it is mostly chilled out.Exams are only held once every 2 to 2.5 months so it is relatively easygoing.

Faculty :

The faculty is very respectable, learned professors who have PhDs and Doctorates along with years of teaching experience. The Head of Department for Economics is an alumnus of Jadhavpur University while the Programme Director is an alumnus of ISI. With faculties from around the country, and visiting faculty including distinguished stalwarts from the industry, learning at IIFT is the right blend of academia and practical experience.

You're eligible for the campus placement from semester 3. I got a placement in a few companies like policy bazaar and Barclays but the salary is quite low offered by the companies. I opted for none of these companies and interviewed for many companies after completing my degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose to do MBA as I did Bachelor's in business management from the same college and the next best alternative for me was to do a master's in the same field as it will give me enough good opportunities and specialization in the marketing field which I always wanted to pursue too. Most of the teachers are Ph.D. scholars and have great experience and knowledge. Though the teaching style of every teacher differs from one another. There is a total of 3 CES, 2 internals, and 1 external for each subject and we have 5 subjects in total.

Placement Experience:

Placement system is not like getting placement in a week time i.e. there is no concept of placement week here. But companies keep on coming throughout the year. Students generally get placed by the month of February. A number of companies like HUL, Bajaj, Wipro, TATA, ICICI, HDFC, etc visit the campus to recruit students. The package can go as high as 24 lacs for few companies, while the average is 10 lac generally.
