Remarks

Positive things I like about the college is the infrastructure the exposure to the patients and the campus itself. Campus spawns in a large area of 65 acres and is well maintained. I simply love having a walk once in a day in my campus as the lush greenery imparts some positivity in me. The negative things I would like to share is about the less stipend received, strict laws imposed over students by the security guards of the college, and the college hostel.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

India needs a lot of improvement in curriculum when compared to other systems in the world like West, Japan etc. JSS dental college do the best to follow with the curriculum that's currently followed in India. I have been personally benefited from it.

Placement Experience

4

Actually we can't talk about the placements in medical and dentistry since it is a more novel kind of work and doctors are usually self employed. Yes JSS dental college offers internship for one year that is compulsory & they do provide stipend of only 3, 000 per month, which I feel is very low for a profession like this. I have my friends in other private dental colleges who gets a stipend of RS.11, 000-16, 000 per month. I hope the college pays me better stipend when I reach internship by the last of this year.

College Events

3

JSS dental college hosts a lots of cultural and sports fests during each academic year. There's a biannual fest conducted by the university itself only for it's constituent colleges that is scheduled to be conducted in the second week of March this year alongwith the annual fest by the end of June this year. I feel like the participation from colleges outside the university is less encouraged and there's no sufficient amount of fund granted by the university to hold a mega fest like we expect from a college like JSS.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is entirely feasible until 2018, from which they doubled the fees for every course. Currently BDS fee for students enrolled since 2018 is around 4.5 L per year and students who had enrolled before 2018 is 2.99 L per year.

Fees and Financial Aid

Thats the main drawback have found with this university, they do not provide any scholarship nor any help for students to avail a loan facility. I have struggled a little to pay my second year fees and I really was pressurised from the college instead of helping me to find a solution. I felt bad about that. And they do not provide any scholarship for students who scores well.

Campus Life

3.5

Extracurricular activities are well maintained with the curricular activities. I appreciate JSS University for conducting annual sports meet. But I heard my friend saying that the college does not provide any fund regarding participation of sports by our students in other colleges.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

I opted apartment outside college. I didn't liked the hostel vibe here, and they do not provide to choose mess as an option instead it is made compulsory which most students hesitate to join hostel as the hostel food is ONLY vegetarian and not tummy-satisfieing. The infrastructure of the hostel is a ok-ok type.

Alumni/Alumna

I personally don't have any connection with the alumni/senior students since the college does not provide any open platform for any interaction to the alumni by the students. I would appreciate such a platform if organised by the university itself rather than finding help our own. College should follow those ways from the western university as they hold a great network of alumni.

Admission

I loved to be a doctor one day and to serve my society for their releif of grievance related to the human body. So I compared MBBS to BDS, and I chose BDS since I don't like being stressed so much 24/7 unlike dentistry where I serve all the purpose of a doctor but by working for fixed hours of the day like an office work. I liked dentistry since it incorporate a lot of art along with science. Love to bring smiles ?

Faculty

4

The faculty of JSS dental college is qualitative and quantitative really better than other colleges in South India. Some of the faculty members are really greatful who shows keen interest in teaching students like me when I encounter them with a doubt or question regarding my studies.I have learnt a lot of clinical aspects from the faculty members than the text books

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is on par with other colleges n the college is constantly trying to improve it which is a gr8 thing!! But one thing which would do wonders is bringing latest dental tech into the curriculum which rarely 1-2 colleges do in India n I would love for our college to bring in this change!! Some dental materials r so old n not used anymore , but still they r in curriculum so...they can even change that!!

The first three years have a combination of medical and dental subjects and fourth year has only dental subjects. Studying medical subjects like anatomy, physiology, pathology, general medicine, general surgery helps us gain in depth knowledge of human body. Before entering clinics we have mannequins and typhodonts on which we practice procedures which equips us to treat patients. Internal assessments are conducted every 3 months and final exam is conducted by the university every year. The difficulty level of exams is moderate
