Remarks :
The college used have its own canteen but it was recently closed due to intimation from fire and health department. So one needs to go to outside the campus for food. One can also go to the SPCE canteen or SPJIMR canteen in case you need a mess.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is a bit theory oriented with a bit less focus on practical. Though the marking system suggests the opposite when compared to other engineering colleges across Mumbai. The schedule is at max 8am - 4pm. So the students get free earlier and can focus on extra-curriculars too.
Placement Experience :
The placements at SPIT are some of the best in Mumbai with average package offerings of 7.5 Lpa. Plus the college gives an option of opting for a Semester long internship which can help the students acclimatize to the industry and it's requirements before they get their degree. Students can get internships at SPTBI an SPIT initiative where startups can get space. at the lowest prices with perks for SPIT graduates.
College Events :
The college has an annual Techno-cultural fest named Oculus. It is one of the biggest in Mumbai with events spread through 3-4 days of sheer entertainment laden with dance performance, singing competitions, Robo wars competitions. It is a unique blend of technology and culture coming together.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure at SPIT is reasonable when compared to some of the deemed institutions spread across Mumbai. But it is obviously more expensive than the college which are government aided. The college is permanently unaided so the infrastructure is quite descent along with a autonomous status.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The college has scholarships for Economically backward people. The college also gives grants through Bhartiya Vidya Bhavans Trust for research purpose. The college however does not offer any loan for education purpose.
Campus Life :
There are a lot of commitee which are operational in the college working for non-tech as well as tech activities such as IEEE, E-Cell, CSI, ITSA, etc. There is a really good motivation to play sports too in the college. With regular participation in inter college sports competitions.
Hostel Facilities :
The college does not have a hostel facility of its own but it may have its own hostel in the future. For accommodation one can stay as Paying guests or on rent in the locality as there are a lot of houses to let around. As I have never been a PG I have no idea about the rents for PG in the locality.
Alumni/Alumna :
The college has a strong Alumni Network with a lot of seniors establishing a startup at SPTBI in Bhavans Campus which is an initiative by SPIT. One can also get internships at these startups in case you need one or during vacations.
Admission :
I got admission in SPIT through CET Exam based on merit rank system. I always had interest in Electronics so I chose Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. Also SPIT is one of the best engineering colleges in Mumbai so I chose this college over others.
Faculty :
The faculty at my college is experienced with most of them having an PhD. in the subjects they teach. But there are some less experienced faculty too which can result in degradation of teaching quality. But the experienced faculty are highly approachable if you need their help.
