My PGDM review

Course Curriculum Overview :

I am very much satisfied with the course curriculum. We read about general media management and relations management. Our curriculum was entirely from managerial perspective with media management being our specialisation. We learned about clients management, customer acquisition/retention, etc.

Placement Experience :

Many of my batch mates got placed in companies like Oxford University Press, CNBC, NDTV, Star and many leading media firms. The packages which were offered to the students vary depending upon the profile. Average package drawn from our course was around 4 LPA.

College Events :

Freshers and farewell were an elemental part of our calendar at YMCA. Students are expected to take part in activities to contest for Mr. and Mrs. Freshers which was pretty much fun. Vivid, Umang, Ability Utsav were some of other events celebrated in the campus.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Our total program fee was around 1.1 lacs. Our institute was flexible in terms of fee structure. Students can pay the fee in three instalments or five instalments as per their choice. Our college also award meritorious students for excelling in academics.

Campus Life :

Classrooms are well furnished and digitized. Entire campus was air conditioned and wi-fi enabled. All the facilities offered to the students are pretty great and the entire staff was quite accommodating. Cultural and gender diversity was another distinct feature of our institute which enabled the flow of diverse viewpoints.

Admission :

Students have to purchase prospectus along with the application form, from the college by paying the prospectus fee. Then students have to appear for the entrance exam. entrance exam was pretty basic and they notified me that I have to appear for the counseling round. Entire selection process was pretty hectic.

Placement Experience:

Final placements start in the month of November. Many MNCs, startups, foreign companies and companies from different sectors visits the campus for summer internships and final placements as well. Placement activities take place in 2 phases. Profiles offered by the companies are at par the positions offered to IIM and other B School graduates. Almost 100% of the students are placed every year. Highest placement goes up to 32 lakhs, the average is 22 lakhs and the median package is 20 lakhs. The figures are almost the same for all the specializations that DMS offers. There are enormous opportunities for students of each specialization. Overall placement scenario at DMS is good.

The industrial exposures with the modern approach toward industry and corporate sector attracted me the most. I was interviewed at 2 levels by the senior faculty of the college itself.

Remarks:

The institute has the one of the best library, where I can find the different books for their studies. But not all books that are issued form the institute is relevant to syllabus so I have to purchase the books. The institute has the online portal that make me comfort in my studies and I can also go for the last year question papers from the portal.
