Remarks :

I was passionate about film making and found YMCA offering the right course with great practical exposure. The admission process starts in May- June. Your course batch starts in the first week of July. The Institute had great alumni under its umbrella and really experienced and wise faculty members. That's why I chose YMCA over other Universities.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I wanted to become a filmmaker and as the name suggests, Direction and Film making was the right course for the same. The faculty is really experienced and handles the students well. The faculty-student ratio is 1:35 which includes students of all ages. All the faculty members were well versed in their domains and were Ph.D. holders and film-making, enthusiasts. The exams were held semester-wise with 2 semesters. The exams were not tough to pass but definitely needed a lot of studying and practical knowledge. It included 1 practical and 1 theory exam.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes! The institute does offer internship opportunities to its students. Some of the companies coming for internships are good TV brands or production houses that hire students as per their requirements. Each student is allowed to participate and sit for selection where they are selected on the basis of their merit.

Placement Experience :

The institute does not provide campus placements however, they do let companies occasionally come and hire students as per their liking. The highest package ranges from 7-8 lacs per annum and the average package 4-5 lacs per annum. Most of the students get placed as YMCA makes you career-ready. While some students opt for jobs, some open their ventures.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee was Rs. 90,000 annually. There were no fee hikes during my course. We were given the option to pay in 4 equal installments which I feel was really helpful in terms of Financial Assitance. The Institute does not provide campus jobs however it does give you an option to work for the Institute once your course is finished, depending on your merit.

Campus Life :

Campus life was great! The friends I made in College are still with me and I am grateful to YMCA for the amazing experience it gave me. The Institute has a shared Library with the rest of the departments of the YMCA. You can find books for different genres and newspapers for your general knowledge. Classrooms are air-conditioned and have whiteboard plus projector facility available in all of them. We have a separate camera lab for shoots and an editing lab pertaining to our course of study. The College organizes an annual fest hosted and organized by students from the event management department.

Interview Experience :

The questions for the written test were based on popular films and related to direction etc. The idea was to get a fair knowledge of how much does a student already knows about their chosen field. We were asked 10 questions, 5 of them were MCQ-based and 5 were long-written questions. I did not prepare for these rounds in any way as the test was quite impromptu.

Admission:

Students who can read and write Hindi or English language can take admission in this course. There is no age limit for this course.Student’s educational qualification should be 10th or equivalent examination with atleast a pass in that examination.

Placement Experience:

After doing a diploma course, I wouldn't say there has been much placements or job opportunities especially that too on a language. Diploma in languages certainly adds to your CV but it doesn't promises any job opportunities or placements.
