My experience studying in Hindustan University

Remarks :

The college really gives you a lot of free time to spend. Which you can utilize to your advantage. But lately this has been changing. The lack of internships and placement is really hurting the students.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is very similar to the most of the Indian colleges. The first semester mostly was about the high school subjects in the 2nd semester we had a little of engineering subjects mostly basics. The rest of the 3 year syllabus gave various introduction into the field of aerospace, aeronautical and also a little about avionics. The are 4 exams in a semester , internals 1, 2, 3 and the final semester exam. The final exam carries the 50 % of the total final grade

Placement Experience :

The college is very bad in this aspect. The number of companies coming to college is pathetically low. Most of them are it companies and the average package is around 3L annum. The college doesn't give much opportunity for internship and also the dept will give problems even if you manage to land a internship by yourself

College Events :

I am not much involved with the college events. So according to me there are 2 big events in the college every year 1. Cultural event: a one day event, with singing, dancing and other fun events 2. Prize distribution: happens at the end of odd semester , the college distributes prizes to students for various reasons as competition, high grades.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

When I joined the college the fee was around 2.5L a year for aerospace. Which was little high. But the college provided scholorship to most of the students. But over the past 3 years the fee has sky rocketed upto 4L a year. This really made the fee expensive to most of the students

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The college gave up a lot of scholorship to the students. I received a 50% scholorship off the tution fee. The scholorship was due to me scoring 90% marks in my high school. The college also gives 25, 50, 75 and also a 100% tution fee waiver depending on your high school marks or the college entrance exam ranking. The college also offers a sports scholorship

Campus Life :

The college lacks very badly in these areas. You can't find much of extra curricular activities and dept doesn't support you even if you join one of them. The labs in the aerospace dept was decent and had most of the instruments. There aren't much sports in the college the most common one are basket ball, horse riding and sometimes football

Alumni/Alumna :

There isn't much help you get from the senior students due to the lack of contact. The dept doesn't arrange any specific meetings to help in the junior students to contact with the seniors so it is mostly upto the individual student to approach them on their own accord.

Admission :

I wrote the entrance exam conducted by the college, and the result turned out to be not so bad. But I don't think that the college considered my entrance exam mark. I was directly admitted with out any further questions and was a provided with a scholarship due to my 12th mark

Faculty :

It entirely depends on the faculty you meet. I have interacted with a lot of faculties in my college year. Many faculty are supportive of your idea and help you to some extend. But others are kind of hopeless can't expect much from them. As far the knowledge of the factually on the subject I would say around 6/10 teacher know their subject and only 2/10 knew it really well.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements start in the 7th semester. Due to the recession, there is a lot of backlash when it comes to placements. It has been quite poor for the last few years. But it depends on how the student is prepared for the competitive world.

Placement Experience:

Placement is good for the CSE and IT departments. You can't expect placement if you belong to other departments, there is a placement for the other departments but very less. Campus placement starts in 3rd year itself. They have special classes for Aptitude skills and interview preparation GD and necessary preparations for job placement opportunities. 90% of students from CSE and IT get placed. The average package is 7.5 LPA you can expect a minimum of 3.5 LPA. If you are willing to go for higher studies you can contact the international relation office they have good relations with other universities abroad, they have students exchange programs, research scholarships etc if you are not planning to seat in placement. I plan for higher studies and research after my Btech.

Placement Experience:

The placements in my college is very good and top companies hire students across every branch with a good amount of package. At the end of 3rd year every student is elegible for the placements in college. About 20 to 25 companies visited for campus hiring and approximately 700 offers were given across the college from every branch. 60 percentage of students got placed in the campus hiring program. Highest package is 24 LPA and the aveyis 5LPA. My plan is to get into a good MNC company which is related to Aerospace technology.
