Remarks :
This place has its own private beach, swimming pool, all the major sports facilities, student environment in general is great here and this place is regarded as best NIT for life in campus. The food here can be improved alot. Apart from other things and the facilities available in the hostel should be available always.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I'm in the first year, so everything is common as of now which is interesting and gives us this buffer period for us to get used to college. This provides us enough time to get into the system and how to do things.
Placement Experience :
As I'm in the first year, all I know are the statistics and honestly, they are pretty good. Alot of big companies come here and even some startups. As for internships there are plenty to do in campus itself let alone outside.
College Events :
There's always something to do in campus at NITk, the two main flagship events are Engineer and Incident, first one being technical and second one is the cultural fest of the college. But apart from this there are always some or the other thing to do here.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
For my family it's manageable, my father works in Qatar, the tuition fees comes to 1,25,000 rupees per year, the hostel and mess is around 60,000 per year and there's a one time fee for all the insurance and what not at around 30,000?.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I don't have any school availed but I do know that there are various scholarships in college, one for example is for the NRI's who's monthly income is less than 4000 dollars can get s year of tuition fees taken care of, students are selected by merit.
Campus Life :
Extracurricular activities here are very good, there's a sports complex which is always full and there are many sport teams and facilities for sports are good. Labs are also availability but requires a working professional to be there.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel facilities is what you expect from an old government College in India, it can be alot better but it's manageable. Sometimes there's no water, no electricity, people around can make Alot of noise but in the end it's all fun and an experience.
Alumni/Alumna :
The alumni are very connected to the college and attend the convocations, provide funds, scholarships and other good things for the benefit of the university and the students. Alumni comes for meets to talk to us and just want to help in general.
Admission :
I Had to write a test based on my proficiency in the subjects of mathematics, physics and chemistry which lee to me getting a score and i had to rank my choices and submit my application (Only NIT's and other CFI's). Based on my score i got my seat.
Faculty :
Very friendly and research oriented. I have never met professor who were so nice ever, these guys put their heart and soul into everything they do and it's inspiring and it resonates with the students here.
