NITK helps you to grow and build your personality irrespective of what background you come from. Disadvantage being you need to be competitive enough to survive the competition. Being one of the best college in India, it has best minds so you really need to cope up with the competition.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum of the college is diverse and regularly updated. This helps everyone to stay with the latest technological advancement happening. Also the diverse curriculum helps to take care of every students. There are many electives courses especially to take this into care. There are mainly two exams mid semester and end semester exams. Apart from this regular assessment is done with help of conducting quizzes, surprise test, assignment, presentation etc which are also evaluated and added to the final score.
Placement Experience :
NITK is one of the best colleges if your aim is to get a job at the end of your Btech course. There are around 300+ companies visiting our college. There are lot of companies offering job profile as analytics, management, consultant.Average package is around 8 to 9 lpa. The best companies in every field prefers hiring from NITK. This includes Google, Microsoft, ISRO Mercedes, ongc. The highest package offered was 49lpa in 2019. Internship opportunities are equally good. Around 60 to 70% of students receive on campus internships. The stipend offered is also pretty good. It goes up to 2.5 lakh per month. There many students who go foreign internship as well. NITK students are helped by TEQIP to fund their foreign internships.
College Events :
There are mainly two fest that occur every year, one per semester. The technical fest called engineer is organized in every odd semester. The cultural fest called incident is organized in every even semester. Apart from that there are many other events like Nitk marathon run, Bharat darshan, crescendo, Phoenix sports event, dandiya night, panache dance competition, musical nights, flight wars etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
NITK is central government funded college. It's fee is 1.25lakhs per semester for tuition and around 50,000 for hostel and mess fees. But there is a concession given to the economically week students. Students with Family income of less than 1 lakh per year are exempted from paying tuition fees, whereas students with income of 1 lakh to 5 lakh need to pay one third of the tuition fees.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
First thing is college offers fee exemption to economically week students after they provide the income certificate as mentioned earlier. For those who still want to opt for loan, State bank of India provides this facility in our college. College as such doesn't provide loan facility.
Campus Life :
NITK is only college which has a private beach. It's just heaven if you want to go and relax after a long tiring day. NITK has one of the best labs for the students. They are very well equipped with ease of access to the students who wants to use them for the research. Labs are very well maintained to ensure that the equipments don't get spoiled. Many labs are being included in course of the students so that they take maximum benefits of it. NITK also has facility of every sports. Recently in 2019 a new sports complex was inaugurated. It covers everything from swimming to volleyball to chess to any other sport you name it. Also students very frequently go to play internits sports championship.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel facilities is really good and decent in NITK. The hostel fee is around 5000 per semester. So ofcourse you don't have ACs in your room. But the rooms are spacious. Bathrooms and restrooms are common. You can opt for double and single sharing rooms from 2nd year. In first year it's 3 per room. And third and final year it's single room. Paid laundry facility is available. There are canteens in hostel. Also you will find a TV on each floor to watch matches and other stuff.
Alumni/Alumna :
NITK has a strong alumni network. College has a department which specifically looks into the alumni activities. Every semester there are many activities that are being organized by alumni to help and guide the junior students. Also this workshop and activities are well planned so that they cover areas like masters MS, MBA, civil service, GATE, startups etc.
Admission :
I got admission in the year 2016. At that time we had to write JEE mains exam. Marks of this exam were considered for the merit list. Along with this exam 12th standard board exams marks were also considered. Weightage was 60% for JEE and 40%for board exams.
Faculty :
Faculty of NITK is one of the best in India. They are deeply involved in research activities. Most of them have good funds from the government to carry out their research activities. This really helps the students as they get to work under the professor who may be doing research in his her field of interest. Almost every faculty of NITK has a PHD degree.
