GEC Thrissur

Remarks :

The only negetive remark I found in this college is the lack of dustbins, everything else is just superb. We have a beautiful gallery (main ground), hockey ground, basket ball courts and open spaces, vast campus. Students are free and safe inside the campus and can communicate witjout any gender or year difference

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is that of engineering. It contains 6 modules of each subject. All branches will have common topics in first year in order to avail branch transfer.Core subjects will be started from second year onwards. There will be two internal exams having 2 module each for each internal and the semester exam contains all 6 modules in 3 parts with 2 compulsory questions from each part.

Placement Experience :

Our college is one of the best engineering colleges in Kerala and hence a lot of placement drives happens here. Placement drives starts from 6th sem and enough and more care and training is given to students by our placement cell. Last year more than 50 out of 62 students got placed in various companies from our branch. College provides the opportunities for different internships. Stipends deoebds on the companies and our gpa.

College Events :

Our college union is very active in conducting events and celebrations. This include our college fest Dyuthi, Film Festival, arts fest Confluence, union inauguaration Bhoomika, festive celebrations like onam, diwali, holi, halloween, new year etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fee structure is so much feasible since this is a government college. A general category student will only have to pay about 12000 rupees per year. Fee reduction is availed for students eho have scholarships like egrants etc and also for OEC students. Students belong to SC-SC dont have to pay any fee at all

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Egrants scholarship for students whose annual income is less than 6 lakhs, about 3000 Rs will be credited per sem and have fee reduction also. SC-ST students are provided with RS. 25000 for purchasing laptop. There are other scholarships for muslim students also

Campus Life :

Laboratories and workshops are spacious and have good tutors and lab assistants. Workshops and labs for each department are situated in corresponding departments. Sports have special concern in our college. Each year a lot of competitions are conducted for students who are interested in basketball, volleyball, hockey, cricket, foodball, athletics etc. Competitions are held departmentwise, year wise, interdepartmental and intra departmental

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel infrastructure is very much good and rooms are spacious enough. Monthly rent is Rs. 250 for room and the food costs only Rs. 70 per day.Ladies hostel will be open from 6 am to 9.30 pm while boys hostel have no timing at all.

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni network and senior students have constant connection with current students. Each year alumni meets are conducted both collegewise and department wise. Department techfest has its main income from the alumni fund. Most alumnis conducts placement drives also. Seniors are do much interactive and helpful for students un every way. Being a a ragging free college there is no difference between seniors and juniors

Admission :

You will be able to get an admission in GECT by achieving good ranks in KEAM examination. Admission will be rank based on open merit and have reservations according to caste. There will be 3 allotments and a spot admission facility. There is also a provision for lateral entry directly to second year after completing 3 year diploma

Faculty :

Since this is a government college, the faculties are well educated and qualified. Mostly the language used will be english due to the presence of other state students. They provide enough care and concern and is always ready to support us.
