Zeyd Naushad's Review On Institute Of Medical Sciences And SUM Hospital - [IMS & SUM Hospital], Bhubaneswar

Remarks :

The college has a peace loving helpful environment, a big campus with a linked hospital. The facilities are extremely supportive and caring. There are lots of co-curricular activities. And an anual fest.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Mbss is a tough course. Dealing with life of other humans. Discipline and dedication is a must in this field. The course consists of 9 semesters, accumulating to 4.5 years of education, and 1 year of compulsory internship with each year having a University exam to clear.

Placement Experience :

The placement criteria for the college is good as each end every student is a doctor and easily gets a job in the hospital. There is an internship provided by the college. The internship is a good platform for the doctors to learn clinical practice and makes them have a better exposure towards patient. The stipend given amounts to 17000 Indian rupees.

College Events :

There is an anual fest, called the impulse in which different colleges participate. The fest is composed of many events , including sports and quizzing. Singing and stage dance is also a major event.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The college being a private college is pretty expensive, as compared to other government colleges. Being a deemed to be University it is slightly more expensive than other private colleges. The anual fees amounting to 14.9 lakhs.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There are scholarships provided for meritorious students. While there is no loan provision provided, one can take loan for the banks, by showing them college letters for study loan approval. However there is no specific loan criteria provided by the college.

Campus Life :

The college has it's own Field and seperate sports team, with anual inter college sports. The labs are spectacular as mostbof the practical related to my field of studies are done in labs. The college has its own band of singers.

Alumni/Alumna :

The seniors are extremely helpful. It is an antiragging campus. Everyone is student friendly and cooperative with each other. The alumni network is strong as every doctor is connected to their colleagues.

Admission :

I passed the entrance exam, NEET 2017. Went through the counselling, chose this college, as it a deemed to be university. One of the best private medical college in India. I am one of the 150 students studying in my batch

Faculty :

The faculty of this college is very good, each being a doctor them self are very disciplined and dedicated towards the course and making better doctors for the upcoming future generations. The are respected and looked upon by every student.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course that I chose is MBBS. Every aspirants know that how nobel this profession is. We are hearing of rumors like we'll be having NExT exam so according to that a little bit change is needed like shifting ophthalmology and ENT to final year and MCQ pattern for our exam. Difficulty level of exams is moderate. You get some basic questions. Some desirable to know type of questions

Mbbs curriculum is vast and hard. Here we have 2 internal exams where 50% is mandatory to pass and these are tough. Final MBE exam occurs at end of year mostly and here also 50% is mandatory to pass else we have to sit for supplementary exams.

There is much required to improve the course curriculum and teaching method. Some things like theory class should be improved so many students should attend the classes and feel it interesting. The clinical classes are good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The MBBS curriculum is really vast and due to the recent guidelines of CBME it is made interesting focusing more on practical's and patient interaction rather than only theory teaching. It would be much more better if there would be MCQ based tests regularly which would make it easier for our upcoming entrance exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medicine is a ever evolving curriculum with new stuff being found every year. Most of the faculties have attained foreign fellowships and are up to date with any recent advances. This is reflected on their methodology of teaching and the content of the course. Clinical aspects of every subject are immensly focused upon and its relevance in a hospital setting is discussed extensively.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I always wanted to be a Doctor. So I chose this course. Faculties are very few, to be honest. Teachers are mostly doctors and with pg. Exams are held at the end of the year. It's called a Medical board examination. You have to score 50% in theory and practical separately to pass.
