To get into MBBS in a government medical College, one has to clear NEET entrance examination (National Eligibility cum Entrance test). All the state government medical colleges have 85% seats reserved for people having their state domicile and 15% All india quota seats. The total marks for the the entrance exam is 720 out of which one has to secure above 600 marks to get a government seat. This is an estimated general cut off and it varies by some degree each year depending upon the difficulty of the NEET paper. It is an offline mode of examination where students have to attempt 180 MCQs within 3 hours and 15 minutes. The competition is very high for this exam as only around 25K students get selected amongst 16 Lakh applicants.

The admission process was hectic. We have to take an entrance exam called NEET and have to score above cutoff marks. Then the college sends you an enrollment letter and you have to visit the college for the admission process. In college, you have to fill up the forms and then pay the fees. The process can be improved a lot but I was okay with it.

The course I'm enrolled is MBBS. The eligibility criteria for the same is securing qualification marks in NTA NEET-UG. The exam usually takes place in the month of May and the application form is released in Feb or March. One can find the application form on NTA website. Exam fee charged is around ?1500. After securing the qualifying marks, you'll be eligible to apply for the counseling processes conducted by NMC and various state counseling bodies by paying the counseling fee ( which is refundable). The counseling process takes around 2 months and consists of various rounds? You'll be allotted a medical college according to the marks secured. In every medical college, 85% seats are reserved for State domicile students and remaining for All India Quota. Out of these , some seats are reserved for OBC, EWS, SC, ST and PWD candidates candidates
