Remarks :
There are no bad remarks as such. The campus is very diverse and the faculty is quite helpful. The only thing that can or should be changed is the pattern of examinations. I remember in one of my semesters, we gave back to back exams due to which many students could not get a decent CGPA. Otherwise, exams are pretty straight forward and easy, if one attends the lectures and go through the notes provided by the faculty.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is perfect for someone who is interested in further research. I was exposed to advanced topics like protein and enzyme engineering, systems biology, stem cell engineering, computational biology and evolutionary studies. Students have to select certain elective subjects as per their interest and availability. I chose Breeding, Medicinal Plants research, Drug delivery systems, etc.
Placement Experience :
There is a proper placement cell in this institute. Every year many prestigious R&D and private companies visit the campus and recruit potential students via interview, GD and other rounds required. It depends on company to company. The placement season is from roughly November to May. Average package is around 4-5 LPA. BTech and MTech students usually get the higher package, as compared to M.Sc students.
College Events :
Almost all the events are celebrated in the institute. AIB has a separate unofficial student body which takes care of all the events from Teacher's Day to Christmas. Apart from that, every Thursday after 1 PM, an event is organised in the foyer area and students from any institute can take part in them. There are different clubs and committees which help organize these events.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure is listed on the official website in a brief manner. It is semester-based, and not yearly based. Every year, there is a 10% increase in the semester fee. Apart from this, there is a security deposit of 20,000 INR. If one wants to opt for hostel facility, that required hostel fees as well. My fee started with 60,000 INR.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I did not qualify for any scholarship. Usually, students who have more than 90% are provided scholarships and are continued if they are one of the top three scorers in the class. I did not take any educational loan also, but there is a number of options available.
Campus Life :
Since Amity University is an international university, therefore, there were many students from Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nigeria, UAE, Qatar, etc. One of my batchmates in Medical Biotechnology was from China. Lectures are delivered in English. The campus is fully secured and has a biometric entry system. Facilities like parking, fast food, cafeteria, gym, swimming pool, sports arena, etc.
Alumni/Alumna :
Senior students can be helpful if you approach them correctly. Mostly, they are busy with their studies and college work, therefore one needs to understand these things. My seniors were very sweet. Not only they helped me with notes, but they also guided me on how can I approach research institutes and places for my summer internships.
Admission :
I applied online when the 'Apply online' portal opened on their official website 'https://www.amity.edu/aib/', paid the application fee of 1000-1500 INR. I have received an interview date after a month. The application process was quite smooth and all the information regarding the course, course module, fees, eligibility and the start date was mentioned on the website.
Faculty :
Faculties are very helpful, except a few. However, most numbers of faculties support students, aid their interests and guide them so that they can have a professional research career. One can easily approach faculties via email or cell. Or even visit them in their lab/room.
